Good morning, everyone! I want to clear up a few things that have been circulating and make sure expectations regarding makeup matches are clear going forward.
When a scheduled match has to be skipped, the player who has the conflict is responsible for making a reasonable effort to get that match rescheduled. However, that does not mean the opposing player can make rescheduling unnecessarily difficult in hopes of receiving an automatic win. Per the handbook, if a match ultimately cannot be rescheduled, the player who originally canceled is the one who receives the zero.
That being said, there are circumstances where two players genuinely cannot get their schedules to align. When that happens, it can negatively affect both players, not just the person who originally had the conflict. I have always been willing to work with everyone and make reasonable accommodations when I can. What I cannot do is hold up the entire league indefinitely waiting for makeup matches to be completed, especially when doing so creates scheduling problems and forces everything else to be rushed at the end of the season.
There were matches this season that ultimately did not get played or scored. That’s simply how this season worked out. None of those missed matches gave anyone a position or playoff standing they did not rightfully earn through the matches they actually played and the points they earned.
I also want to address something else clearly. If anyone has questions about scoring, standings, scheduling, or a decision I’ve made as League Operator, please come directly to me. I am more than willing to explain a decision, show the scoring, or discuss a legitimate concern.
What I am no longer willing to do is spend my time trying to mitigate rumors, accusations, or unnecessary drama after the fact when a simple conversation with me could have cleared things up from the beginning. Running a league takes a tremendous amount of time and coordination, and I do my best to be fair and accommodating to everyone.
If you have a question, ask me. If something doesn’t look right, bring it to me. I’m happy to address it.
Thank you, and I hope this clears things up going forward.
