Inevitably some ja****le will holler "I don't have a problem with gay people. I've got gay friends. I just don't want it shoved in my face."

Good news! Folks have a CHOICE!

They can CHOOSE to attend and celebrate the happiness of their "gay friends" connecting with their community... or they can stay home.

Either way, nothing is being "shoved" in any faces. We gather to celebrate ourselves, our challenges, our joys, and make new friends.

Y'all aren't listening, so one more time...

Burning white sage (smudging) is a CLOSED PRACTICE. More specifically it is a CLOSED indigenous practice.

Point blank - If you are not indigenous, or have not been *directly gifted* the knowledge to use it correctly - it is APPROPRIATION!!!

Stop doing it. Claiming anglo-european paganism as some kind of justification is just wilfully ignorant.

Obtaining it from Amazon and similar non-indigenous sources is literally stealing this sacred medicine out of indigenous hands, and depleting an endangered, limited crop. These "businesses" are sweatshoping it by paying highly vulnerable individuals low wages to steal it from where indigenous people would source it naturally and traditionally.

Borrowed from a friend... but true words regarding being an ALLY to marginalized people and communities:

3 points to remember about allyship

1) Saying you’re an ally doesn’t make it so. Being recognized as ally by the people you support does.

2) An ally doesn’t support or forward positions that put those they support in harm’s way. The ally listens to why those positions are unsafe and does what they can to foster safety.

3) An ally doesn’t tell the people they support what they should or should not do. The ally supports the decisions they make for themselves and listens to understand.

This is it!!! The wonderful short that was created by indigenous students at Pine Ridge over the summer. I'm so happy to have been a part of this project, even as a set medic. Met so many wonderful people. Learned a lot about the history and culture of the people there. Such a blessing!
