ANNOUNCING AUDITIONS for Ms.Holmes and Ms. Watson, Apt. 2B, by Kate Hamill.
Directed by Shawn Cannon and Stage Managed by Kaitlyn Scott.

Ms. Holmes & Ms. Watson – Apt. 2B is an irreverent dark contemporary comedy play, fast-paced, by playwright Kate Hamill, that reimagines the classic Sherlock Holmes stories, through an irreverent, modern, feminist lens. Newly divorced and high-achieving Dr. Joan Watson needs an affordable place to live and moves in at Baker Street (Apt. 2B) with Sherlock Holmes, an eccentric, abrasive, and hyper-observant consulting detective.

Much craziness ensues...

Character breakdown on the website, thecannontheatre.org. Be prepared to read a cold read from the script. British accents a must, except for Dr. Watson.

“The world is violent and mercurial-it will have its way with you. We are saved only by love-love for each other and the love that we pour into the art we feel compelled to share: being a parent; being a writer; being a painter; being a friend. We live in a perpetually burning building, and what we must save from it, all the time, is love.” -Tennessee Williams

Did you know?

The Glass Menagerie play mirrors Williams's own family life. The protagonist Tom is named after the author (born Thomas Lanier Williams III), the domineering mother Amanda is based on his mother Edwina, and the fragile, glass-collecting Laura (nicknamed "Blue Roses") is a portrait of his older sister, Rose, who struggled with mental illness and underwent a lobotomy shortly before the play was written.
(The picture is from the original play, from 1945)
