✨ Performer Spotlight: Lindsay McCaw and Kristi Ternes ✨

We’re proud to feature Lindsay McCaw and Kristi Ternes in Women You Oughta Know, presented by Matrix Theatre Company.

Lindsay McCaw is a puppeteer and musician who has built and performed shows all over the US with groups including The Dolly Wagglers, Bread and Puppet, In the Heart of the Beast, Barebones Productions and Detroit Puppet Company. In addition to working with Flying Cardboard Theater, she currently plays in several bands, including The Boblo Islanders, Roochie Toochie and the Ragtime Shepherd Kings, The Corn Potato String Band, and The Velvet Boys.

Kristi Ternes is a multi-media artist who dips and dives into various art forms with an overall goal to creatively collaborate as often as possible. She was a Bedlam Theatre company member for 8 years and an active puppeteer, performer, designer, director, videographer, and teacher for 20+ years in Minneapolis and beyond. Some notable highlights would include creating a giant Jabberwoky puppet for Circus Juventus in St.Paul, MN, collaboratively creating and directing a 17 person show variety show entitled Iron Mermaiden, and winning Matrix Theatre’s 2025 Puppet Survivor competition with Lindsay McCaw with this show.
Kristi currently is working with PASC as an art advisor and as an elder arts teacher in West Bloomfield.

Their featured piece "Punch and Judy- Living the Dream" won last year's Puppet Survivor competition: It’s a time where modern technological wizardry and 558 years of marriage collide-where one click of a mouse during late night online shopping opens up the possibility of the classic duo Punch and Judy being able and willing to spy on each other’s dreams.

✨ Performer Spotlight: Kamryn Marck ✨

We’re proud to feature Kamryn Marck in Women You Oughta Know, presented by Matrix Theatre Company. Kamryn is a performer, writer, and ecological gardener based in Royal Oak, Michigan. She studied Musical Theatre at Oakland University and has worked as an actress and teaching artist with theater companies around the midwest. While living in Auburn, NY, she co-founded Cayuga Climate Action. She also cultivated her passions for holistic health and permaculture by working at Silver Tree Forest Farm. Back in Michigan, she furthered her practice installing ambitious regenerative spaces with Garden Juju Collective, all the while tinkering on her backyard garden.

She’s passionate about using storytelling and music to facilitate the collective imagining of a world where we heal the land, undo our broken systems, and rebuild ecosystems that work for every living thing. She believes wholeheartedly in grassroots movements that create more fairness for everyone, especially those who have been historically oppressed and excluded. She actively pursues thoughtfulness, hope, and joy in herself and her projects.

Their featured piece, There’s a Place for Us: A History of Q***r Women Creating Safe Places, asks:

“At a tearoom on Macdougal Street in Greenwich Village, a converted church in Toronto, a home in Detroit, women rolled out rugs and brought in chairs. They built places - sanctuaries: for q***r people, for artists, for friends, for lovers. They did it before rainbow flags and marriage equality. Some did it loudly, some quietly. How did they build those spaces? How did they know who to open the door for? Kamryn follows their stories to discover how to build safe places in real time.”

Don’t miss this moving and timely performance as part of Women You Oughta Know!
