ART SHOW —> join us on Wednesday, October 21st, for an Opening Artist’s Reception for Steven Gamburd‘s show “in the neighborhood“. reception is from 6 to 10 PM.

In The Neighborhood is a series of watercolor and ink wash paintings created by Steven Gamburd from 2024 to 2026 representing creative settings, neighborhoods, basements and dwellings. The images for most of this series do not meet the border and have holes and open spaces and crevices heavily described. All were created as abstractions with suggestive form. The details lend themselves to be descriptive, but the contents are intentionally open ended. The series from 2024 were developed with ink wash and each with individual colors. The 2026 series created slightly smaller paired a couple colors with minimal ink wash and detailed with ink pen finishes.

For over twenty years, Steven Gamburd has been exhibiting at art fairs, cafes, restaurants and galleries, played drums all over Detroit in several bands with studio albums, owned and managed The Phoenix Cafe in Hazel Park booking bands and curating art shows, repaired and painted large to small homes, and maintained gardens. In 2022, Gamburd returned to illustrating comics and began developing Dubface Annual, a digest including characters with abilities and stories with dreams, wrestling drama and humor and a crime noir novella.
