REAL TRAINING. REAL TECHNOLOGY. REAL-WORLD SKILLS.

Last year, Audio Engineers of Detroit gave our students and audio community the opportunity to expand their skills through Dante Certification Training and Shure Wireless Systems Training.

From learning professional Dante audio networking to understanding wireless microphone coordination, RF, setup, troubleshooting, and real-world wireless workflows, these trainings are part of what AED is all about — exposing people to the technology actually being used in today’s professional audio industry.

Dante Certification Training was led by instructor Ed Willock, giving participants hands-on exposure to professional audio networking, Dante system setup, routing, signal flow, and troubleshooting.

Shure Wireless Systems Training was led by instructors Josh Clausseen and Brian Christ, covering wireless microphone systems, RF fundamentals, frequency coordination, system setup, troubleshooting, and real-world wireless workflows.

A huge thank you to Ed, Josh, and Brian for sharing their knowledge and experience with the AED community.

Audio engineering today goes far beyond recording and mixing. Professional engineers need to understand networked audio, wireless systems, live sound, signal flow, and system troubleshooting.

Instructor Mike Chav at Audio Engineers of Detroit!

The first two weeks of class are in the books, and our students are already getting a serious dose of real-world audio engineering.

Instructor Mike Chav has been taking students beyond the textbook—breaking down audio theory, recording techniques, signal flow, mixing, critical listening, and professional studio workflow while giving them hands-on experience inside a working recording studio.

Mike has been with Audio Engineers of Detroit since Day 1, and he brings years of professional experience and Grammy-recognized work directly into the classroom. That’s exactly who we want our students learning from: people who actually work in the industry.

THAT’S A WRAP — CAMP AMP 2026!

As we close out an incredible Camp Amp Beat Production Workshop, Audio Engineers of Detroit would like to take a moment to say THANK YOU to everyone who helped make this experience possible.

A special thank you to Camp Amp Co-Founder Tombi Stewart for trusting AED to help continue the vision and legacy of Amp Fiddler through music, mentorship, and opportunities for the next generation.

Thank you to our instructor and producer Jupyter Galaxy for bringing his knowledge, creativity, patience, and passion into the classroom and challenging every student to discover their own sound.

Thank you to our assistant Ben Nowak for his hard work and support throughout the workshop.

And most importantly, THANK YOU TO ALL OF OUR CAMP AMP STUDENTS!

Over the past several days, you've seen us spotlight each student's music individually. What made this group special was that every student brought something different. Different backgrounds. Different musical influences. Different styles. Different ideas.

But in this picture, we're one Camp Amp family.

We watched students walk through our doors ready to learn and leave with new skills, new confidence, new friendships, and music they created themselves.

For AED, that's what makes programs like Camp Amp so important. It's bigger than making beats. It's about exposure, mentorship, creativity, and giving young people an opportunity to discover what's possible.

Camp Amp Student Spotlight #6 Alex Williamson

Alex's Camp Amp story actually started before Camp Amp.

We first met Alex at Pershing High School Career Day, where he was introduced to the Akai MPC by producer Kenny Flav.

Alex walked up to the MPC and simply started making a beat.

That moment stood out to us.

Alex is a straight-A student, but what impressed us just as much was his natural curiosity and willingness to try something completely new. That first experience with the MPC gave him an opportunity to explore music production—and we later had the chance to watch that interest grow at the Camp Amp Beat Production Workshop.

At Camp Amp, Alex was able to take that initial exposure further under the guidance of instructor and producer Jupyter Galaxy, learning more about beat production, developing his sound, and using professional music production tools to turn his ideas into music.

This is exactly why programs like Camp Amp and career-day outreach are so important.

Sometimes all a young person needs is an opportunity to put their hands on the equipment and discover something they didn't know they could do.

Camp Amp Student Spotlight #5 Mason Simmons aka SpitACobra

We’re almost at the end of our Camp Amp Student Spotlight series, and Student #5 brought another unique sound to the studio!

One of the biggest things we saw during the Camp Amp Beat Production Workshop was growth. Students came in with different levels of experience, different musical influences, and different ideas about the type of music they wanted to create.

With instructor and producer Jupyter Galaxy guiding them, they learned how to take those ideas and start turning them into actual productions—experimenting with beats, sounds, arrangements, and their own creativity.

And once again, Student Spotlight #5 sounds completely different from the students you’ve already heard. That’s what makes this group so special.

Camp Amp isn't about teaching every student to make the same kind of music. It's about giving young musicians the tools to discover what they can create musically.

Camp Amp Student Spotlight #4 Willyne Smith

The creativity keeps coming!

For our fourth Camp Amp Student Spotlight, we’re showcasing a young female producer who brought her own ideas, energy, and musical style into the studio.

Throughout the Camp Amp Beat Production Workshop, instructor and producer Jupyter Galaxy challenged our students to go beyond simply making beats. They learned how to listen differently, experiment with sounds, build arrangements, and use professional music production tools to bring their ideas to life.

One of our favorite things about this Camp Amp group was hearing how different every student’s music sounded. Each student found their own lane—and that’s exactly what we wanted.

We’re not just teaching software. We’re helping young musicians discover what they can create musically.
