December 20, 1971 at MSG, George Harrison and Ravi Shankar hold a press conference before the Concert for Bangladesh. In the far left of the photo you can see Allen Klein and unseen in this image but sitting directly behind Klein was Mal Evans. These shots are some of my favorites of George. This set is 24 negatives taken with what I assume was a 14mm lens, showing the packed room, all ranges of emotion, all from directly in front of the artists. These are the only images I’ve seen from this event.

October 23, 1981 at the Fox Theater in Detroit, Chuck Berry played “My Ding-a-Ling” but hopefully didn’t play with his ding-a-ling, as he probably did while watching the videos he was accused of making of unsuspecting women in the bathrooms of his hotel rooms. While he was one of the true rock pioneers, he did some weird s**t behind closed doors, not to mention also being convicted of armed-f**king-robbery. Anyways, Hail! Hail! Rock ‘n’ Roll! 📸 Ross Marino, the legend.

Don’t know the date or circumstances but I know it was found in a dusty old shoebox and has never seen the light of day. A young Johnny Cash and a round lass cozy pose for a pic in what I would guess is 1955-56.

Not a photo but holy s**t does Joaquin Phoenix play a solid Johnny Cash. I dig this version of Co***ne Blues as much as the original.

An unpublished shot taken by Eve Bowen after their show at the Portsmouth Guildhall on March 30, 1963, The Beatles sit with their luggage waiting for their ride to Leicester. Ringo’s tongue is sticking out, George in an contemplative pose and Paul gazes wistfully into the camera. They’re all wearing their slick Italian leather boots and all but John have smokes in their hands. This one’s a gem.

December 31, 1976 at the Cow Palace in San Francisco was the debut of Jerry’s Travis Bean TB500. According to Steve Parrish, Jerry’s guitar tech, this was the guitar that was played more than any other Jerry axe except for Tiger and Rose (this fact surprised me). In 2013, the guitar sold for $243,200 at auction. What’s the chance it’s still getting use and not hanging on a wall?

February 16, 1964 after the Beatles were turned down by Sonny Liston for a visit, they went to Miami’s 5th St. Gym and met the future champ, then still know as Cassius Clay. While there are dozens of images capturing this unpublished, iconic meet of GOATs, there are only six known that were taken in color. Here’s one of them. The other five are in the collection too 😎

October 26, 1978 at Chris Blackwell’s estate in Jamaica, Strawberry Hill, Mick Jagger and Peter Tosh record the Smokey Robinson-written “Don’t Look Back” with Sly and Robbie. My guess is it was after this that Tosh pulled the gun on Keith, refusing to leave the house in which he was squatting 🇯🇲🇬🇧🏴‍☠️

August 15, 1981 at the world’s largest Masonic Temple, Ross Marino captured Miles Davis live in Detroit. Of all the Ross images that we’ve sorted through, these are some of the very few that don’t fit into the rock genre. And for those that don’t know, Ross was at the forefront of the scene in the Midwest from the late 70s until 1988 when he tragically drowned while on vacation at 28 years old. The last image here is of Ross eight months before he died.

Happy 15th birthday to the little girl on the left. Remembering the time she met a real life rock star (ok, pop star) who was staying in the same hotel as we were. I think we had One Direction suspenders, pens, t-shirts and watches upstairs in our room. The girls were obsessed! Time sure does fly!

May 19, 1967 at 24 Chapel St. in London, which was the house Brian Epstein purchased in ‘64 and died in three months after this photo was taken. It was here, at the press launch for Sgt. Pepper, that Paul asked Linda out for the first time. The first image is the original contact sheet and the second is the original negative. There are eight other images in this set, all of primo quality.
