My first year as a vendor at Detroit Zine Fest was super cute!! I'd gone as an attendee before and this year came prepared with a zine of my own. Thank you to everyone who stopped by, I had so much fun conversation with new people, and loved the other vendors I got to connect with. We are bonded now, like det🤞🏽

And I HAVE to give a big thank you to Yhas and everyone else who helped organize and volunteer at this event because not only is it always incredibly well-run, but in times like this, I felt so safe being in a mask-required event again where everybody's on the same page of wanting each other to be safe and cared for. I thank y'all for holding it down!

I created "Home With Allah" for Sanctuary is a Verb, a zine project produced by Hayaat House by way of Mipsterz - Muslim Hipsters, of Muslim women and femme thought on creating personal, spiritual and political sanctuaries.

"Home with Allah" subverts the phrase's cultural association with heaven, and observes that Allah is inside us all and all things. At home, with our cats, with our partners. We are home with Allah when we are at the sanctuaries we create within our personal spaces and in our relationships.

To order a zine from Hayaat House, DM . It is $15 and 50% of all sales benefit Few of a Kind Store in Pittburgh and the Muslim-operated women's shelter they support.
