CALL TO ARTISTS - We had such a great turnout for this exhibit last year, we are doing it again.

Detroit Public Library and invites artists to submit work for The Grand Gesture 2026, a group exhibition celebrating the power of large-scale art. We are seeking paintings, photographs, and mixed media works that are physically impressive—at least 40 inches on one side—and visually dynamic.
(Example sizes 40 × 40, 40 × 60, 40 × 36, 60 × 80, or larger).

Bold color, striking composition, or immersive detail, submissions should transform the space it occupies. Diptychs, triptychs, and multi-panel works are welcome, as long as the total configuration meets the size requirement.

Who Should Apply:
Artists living or working in Detroit and the surrounding region. Emerging and established artists are welcome.

Submission Deadline: Monday, August 31
Notification: Tuesday, September 8
Exhibition Dates: September 28 - December 30, 2026

I enjoyed putting this exhibition together with Detroit Public Library - Grand Gesture - Larger works by brilliant artists from Metro- Detroit. While you are on holiday or on break from school or work, stop by Main Library Gallery and take in some art. Exhibition is on display until January 2026.
