We are pleased to announce that the 2013 Alexander-Ball Teel Family Reunion will be held in Detroit, Michigan on Thursday, August 8, 2013 through Sunday, August 11, 2013! Our Committee members are currently working diligently planning a joyous and memorable weekend filled with activities and entertainment that everyone will enjoy. We pray that this reunion will be a time of remembering, rejoicing, recreating, renewing, and most importantly, reuniting us together again!

Effie Rollins Obituary
Mrs. Effie Ball Rollins, age 97, departed this life in the early morning hours of May 1, 2005 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Savannah, Georgia after a short illness. Effie came to Savannah, Georgia from Baldwin, MI. She resided for 12 years in Savannah under the care of her nephew Dr. Wesley J. Ball and his wife, Pat Ball. While in Savannah, she made many loving and devoted friends at Liberty City Church of Christ and Rose of Sharon. Mrs. Effie Ball Rollins was born in Stewart County, GA on November 15, 1907 to the late Haywood Wesley Ball and Lula Ball. She was married to the late Eugene R. Rollins, Jr. She leaves to mourn her passing one sister, Mrs. Allie Mae Brown of Fitzgerald, Georgia. She was predeceased by three brothers, Franklin Ball, H. Wesley Ball and Rubin Teel. One sister, Esther McGowan and one nephews, Ronald Anthony Ball. Survivors include several nieces, Mrs. Marjorie Ball Walker (James) of Detroit, Michigan and Mrs. Willie Mae Stroud of Atlanta, Georgia; several nephews, Dr. Wesley J. Ball (Pat) of Savannah, Georgia, Mr. Frederick (Juanita) Ball of Atlanta, Georgia and Mr. Alfred L. (Donita Gaines, deceased) Ball of Somerset, New Jersey. She is also survived by many other nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews and many great-grand nieces and grand nephews. She also leaves a host of wonderful friends. Rubin Teel

Rubin Teel was born in Colquitt County, Georgia on August 26, 1921, to the late Lula Gilbert Ball Teel and John Teel. He departed this life on Saturday, January 10, 2004, at Good Samaritan Hospital, Suffern, NY.

He received his education at Moultrie High School, Moultrie, Georgia. Rubin loyally and courageously served his country during World War II and was a recipient of a Victory Medal, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with two Bronze Battle Stars, Overseas Service Bars and a Good Conduct Medal. After completing his tour he was honorably discharged.

Rubin was united in Holy Matrimony to Rosa Bell Teel who preceded his death in 1958. From that union four children. Rubin retired after 30 years of service, from the Ford Motor Company at the Wayne, Michigan, Assembly Plant. In his later years,, he migrated to Spring Valley and actively affiliated himself with the family business, Abet Universal Services, Inc.

He was a member of St. Paul’s A.M.E. Zion Church under the pastorate of Rev. Dr. Walter Brightman, Jr. and in earlier years was member of the “Sons of Varick” Men’s Club.

In prior years, he served as a volunteer for the Bon Secour Hospital in Michigan and had considered to resume his volunteer work at Good Samaritan Hospital (Bon Secour charity Health System) in Suffern, NY, before his ultimately illness.

He leaves to cherish his memories his four children, Jeanette Pressley, Chestnut Ridge, NY; Rubin C. Teel, Jr., Inkster, MI; Sister Malinda Madison, Detroit, MI and Olivia Wyatt, Dearborn, MI; two sisters, Effie Rolling, Savannah, GA and Allie May Brown, Fitzgeraqld, GA; his treasured 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by two brothers, Franklin and Wesley Ball and one sister, Ester McGowan.
Funeral service for Rubin Teel was held Saturday, January 17, 2004 at 10:00a.m. at the St. Paul’s AME Zion – 121 Harriet Tubman Way, Spring Valley, NY 10977. Rev. Dr. Walter Brightman, Jr., Officiated. Interment – Frederick Loescher Cemetery Veteran Memorial Cemetery Brick Church Road, Spring Valley, NY

Mrs. Lula Ball Teel

Mrs. Lula Ball Teel was born in Chattahoochee County, GA, February 20, 1886. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jake Gilbert. She was married to the late Rev. Hayward Wesley Ball to this union five children were born. After the death of Rev. Ball, she was married to the late Mr. John Teel, to this union one child was born.

She connected herself to the Christian faith at an early age. After moving to Moultrie, GA in 1924, she joined the Union Baptist Church where she served faithfully until her health failed.

Mrs. Teel departed this life, January 16, 1978 at the Fitzgerald Nursing Home in Fitzgerald, GA after a brief illness. She will always be remembered in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

She leaves to mourn her memory two sons; Mr. H. Wesley Ball, Moultrie, GA, and Mr. Rubin Teel, of Inkster, Michigan. Three daughters: Mrs. Ester McGowen, Fitzgerald, GA, Mrs. Alie Mae Brown, Mrs. Effie Rollins, of Baldwin, Michigan, twelve grandchildren, thirty-three great grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held for Mrs. Teel Saturday, January 21, 1978 at 1:00 p.m. at the Union Baptist church, Moultrie, GA. The Rev. B.F. Dent, Pastor and the Rev. Washington Virgil, officiated. Interment: Westwood Cemetery, Fitzgerald, GA.
