During a spontaneous stop to the cherry blossom bloom at University of Washington, a very unique discovery was stumbled upon in one of the courtyard trees..

Late March brings a number of migratory hummingbirds to the Washington coastal areas for nesting and this specific hummingbird chose a very elegant place to call home!

Although I can’t take credit for the discovery, I knew the only way to capture this encounter was with the 200-600mm lens, paired with a 2x teleconverter.

The elusive Canadian Lynx!

Back in spring of 2023 while making my way north through the Yukon, I was lucky enough to experience an unusual wildlife encounter. Moving mainly at night, it was to my surprise to find this adult lynx hunting on the side of the interstate during the day. Staying at a safe distance, I sat and watched for almost an hour until finally losing it into the woods.

Home to a large and unique list of hummingbird species, Mindo’s cloud forests are hotspots for seeing these birds play in their natural habitat. Luckily this Rufous-tailed Hummingbird sat still in the light just long enough for me to capture its beauty on one of our last days.
