THE MAA RECORD SHOW & CONVENTION TOUR & PARK PROJECTS ARE UNDERWAY

January 21, 2019
MAA NEWS - The Motown Alumni Association is proud to present the Motown Alumni Association Record Show & Convention Tour.

The show will consist of various Motown artists, former employees, and musicians that were involved with the historic Motown label from 1959 and beyond. Individuals will be selling merchandise, collectables, vinyl records, and signing autographs at various conventions & record shows in Michigan and upper Ohio.

This tour is in honor of the 60th anniversary of Berry Gordy's development of Motown Record Company. Billy Wilson, curator of the tour and founder of the Motown Alumni Association explained, "We are doing our fair share to educate & promote the importance of Motown's existence to the world. Wilson went on to say, "Dreams do come true, and Motown proved it".

The MAA Record Show & Convention Tour is already scheduled to start this month, and is expected to run throughout 2020!

Wilson said, "I'm letting the record show tour run that long, because 1959 was the year Berry Gordy borrowed the historic $800 to start The Gordy Company (aka... Motown Record Corporation), in 1960 (April 4, 1960) Motown was filed & registered as a corporation with the state of Michigan, so we are celebration both periods of time".

The events are already set up by various independent promoters throughout the region & state; the MAA will rent the tables and bring the stars to all of the Record shows, and fairs.

This year fairgrounds, record store, and venues will be added to the tours, which will allow fans that have never seen various Motown celebrities personally to meet, greet, and socialize with the stars and musicians.

For a nominal fee other recording personalities from other labels are invited to participate in the record show tour also. Contact us directly at: (734)972-7582

Also added to the celebration will be the promotion of the Motown Alumni Association Unity Park project. This park will be an all red engraved brick facility that will house the Motown Walk Of Fame. The red brick(s) placed along the walkway of the facility will be purchased by consumers in the Detroit area, nationally and all over the world.

Anyone can buy a brick, and special group prices are available. The original prices of a brick is $600, but currently the Motown Alumni Association and Unity Parks, LLC is offering Motown fans $200 per brick for a short time only. The proposed ground breaking and Motown Walk Of Fame induction cerimony will be April 15, 2019, location of the cerimony & park location will be announced later.

50 Motown celebrities will recieve their star on the Motown Walk Of Fame this year (2019), and 50 more per year will be added the following years to come. You can currently order brick(s) and or find out more about the MAA UNITY PARK project by going to:

The Motown Alumni Association and Detroit Residential Alumni organization have come together to create the:

"Motown Alumni Association Unity Parks"

The park is associated with its mother company Unity Parks, LLC. The primary objective of the organization is to improve the aesthetic value of Urban Communities around the nation by erecting beautifully manicured leisure parks within disadvantaged areas. What makes this effort different than other park building endeavors is the material used to create the area, and the purpose of the facility. We propose to develop an all red brick memorial park that will be housed into a rod iron & brick fencing, lined with an aura of exotic & traditional roses. Every brick lined within & along the walkway will be engraved and financially supported by donors that purchase from us their own customized brick(s) to be placed on the grounds throughout the facility. The location proposed is a 150,000 sq ft. residential area that is nestled in the middle of an urban neighborhood, on the grounds that was originally an elementary school; which is now demolished with plush manicured green grass, and taking up a full city block, on the north western side of Detroit in district 9. But, the grand attraction of the park is the development of:

The Motown Walk Of Fame

Motown Record Company's biggest stars will receive their own black shiny marble 30"×30" plaque with their name, and a brief history of their career. And when it comes to groups that have changed members periodically, another smaller plaque will be placed adjoining the main star, indicating who is who, and the year of their involvement. Nobody will be left out of the joyous occasion. Furthermore, ceremonies will be held weekly honoring not just the major Motown stars, but the employees, musicians, marketing executives, audio engineers, and producers will all get their just do on the Motown Walk of Fame.

The park is designed by renowned Romanian/artist/ author Gabriela Orza. She will add her Picasso-esque flare to the aesthetics of the park. Much of this European artist’s technique was garnered in Romania, and perfected in the United States.

There will be 8 - 100' corporate sponsored walls placed strategically throughout the brick laid park, and numerous sitting benches will be placed in various areas of the facility. The park is not a playground for children to play in, but a historic educational site honoring the precious values instilled through the body of works at Motown Record Company. The general consumer can get in on the historic concept by donating the purchase of a brick for a loved one, mother or father, veteran member of their family, relative or children.

Additional feature of the MAAUP is;

The 250 seat brick amphitheater that will be erected at the opposite end off the park entrance.

A merchandise store will be available for those that need to take home memorabilia and tidbits exclusively sold at the MAAUP Store.

If you need to find a name or brick in the park, we will have an aura of MAA representatives that will be scattered throughout the park that can assist you in your search.

The facility will have armed security guards 24/7 for your safety and convenience, and because the facility is a privately owned property, violators of the grounds rules will be swiftly taken care of to restore the peace.

Other local Walk of Fame areas will be erected recognizing individuals throughout Detroit. Organization such as;

The 'Detroit Radio Voices' - who represent former and current radio personalities throughout the decades.

The DBMA - have been giving awards to recipients that have honored the music genes of Soul, Blues / R&B for over 10 years.

The Canadian based radio station CKLW - which was the first major radio station during its racial era, to play Motown music without prejudice.

One of the most heart felt & honorable features in the park will be at the entrance of the park, with the commissioning of a full bust of Motown's founder Berry Gordy. There will also be an entire area dedicated to the ingenuity, and fortitude of the outstanding example the entire Gordy family members instilled as an example of how to network cohesively within a family unit, to gain prosperity. The entire Gordy family contributed to the Make up of the development of the company.

Unity Parks, LLC is seriously concerned about the development of the community, and the impact we will make on an entire environment. To stay with the incredible community curb appeal Unity Parks will add to the neighborhood, we are planning for twice a week every month, going from house to house offering to mow the lawns, and trim the yard of every home within a one square block radius, FREE to area residents! You might ask, how can we afford to do that?

Our lawn service employees will be available from 9 to 5 everyday tending to weeds flowers, garbage, etc... they will have full time jobs maintaining the surrounding area of the park. Interns, and volunteers will be an important part of the teaching process in various areas of the park, which will include the residential area's around the facility. We will offer certificates of completion to the interns and volunteers for helping with our community services program that will be active year around. Interns & volunteers will be working throughout the facility from office to park hosting to grounds keeping. Full time grounds keepers will manage the neighborhood clean up efforts weekly.

UNITY PARKS, LLC will also pay for the paving of the surrounding streets, and 24/7 bonded security guards patrolling of the area!

UNITY PARKS, LLC is not developing only one park. We are expanding throughout the Detroit metro area, one park at a time. The primary goal is not to focus on already developed areas within the city, but to bring a touch of class into areas that have been effected by blight, and the devastating effects of urban depletion within Detroit communities. We must build a respectable facility the neighborhood can be proud of. We want to build neighborhoods that represent the best of American ingenuity; we believe we can change the psychological perspective of an entire generation by manipulating the dignity of their environment.

Family reunions can have respectable events in Unity Parks all over the city, corporation can have outings in a classy and refined setting. Small bands and entertainers can perform for consumers at the hi tech amphitheater, and the ground will be clean and manicured immaculately. With a cleaning crew and staff representative available the entire time of all events.

The Motown Alumni Association Unity Park will be a seasonal park, opening the beginning of April and closing the beginning of November.

Fundraising began November 1, 2018, and will continue throughout 2019. The groundbreaking will begin April 15, 2019. Consumers and corporations can go to UnityParks.com to buy bricks, and or buy a wall space.

We hope you find the program suitable to your liking, and we look forward to working with you as a potential partner or sponsor. This venture is very exciting to us, and our heart and soul is dedicated to inspiring communities one brick at a time.

We hope to hear from you soon.

FYI: The pictures do not depict the actual park.
