In August 1975, we released our sixth studio album ‘Pick Of The Litter.’ Another pivotal album in our catalog that was produced by Thom Bell again. “Games People Play” would become one of our most successful as our fifth #1 R&B hit on the Billboard chart.

On this day in 1972, we released two singles that would make history for us. The A-side “How Could I Let You Get Away” and the B-side “I’ll Be Around” would launch a run in the ‘70s that we had with the legendary Thom Bell. While both singles would chart well, “I’ll Be Around” reached #1 on the Billboard R&B Singles chart, #3 on the Pop chart and eventually sold over a million copies. It was the perfect set-up for our self-titled Atlantic Records debut the following year.
