Detroit Doll Show

The 2026 Detroit Doll Show (marketed as the Black Art & Doll Show), presented by Sandy's Land LLC, will take place on Saturday, November 21, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST. This year's event will be held in 10,000-square-foot venue at the Ford Wellness Center on the Samaritan Center Campus.

The Detroit Doll Show is the largest event of its kind, celebrating history, culture, diversity, and self-love through the promotion of Black dolls and dolls of color. The formal theme for the 2026 experience is "WHIMSY!".

Program & Activities

Shopping: Unique vendors, doll makers, artists, and children's authors.

Entertainment: Live DJ, African drumming, and a dedicated fashion show.

Interactive Fun: Arts & crafts, workshops, selfie stations, and a giant "doll box" for photos.

Special Highlights: Doll restoration services, Doll giveaways for ages 4 to 8 years old, a special appearance by Princess Tiana, and a "Best Mommy & Me" runway walk with a $100 cash prize.

2026 Honoree: Mark Ruffin, Emmy Award-winning puppet builder, cultural dollmaker, and founder of Black Dolls Matter™

The internet trolls called them “Mebounds.” The WNBA record book just calls them rebounds. And Angel Reese's name just got added to that book TWICE.

“Mebounds” started as an attempt to clown Angel Reese, claiming she padded her numbers by grabbing her own misses. Angel flipped the joke, trademarked the name and turned it into money.

And kept rebounding...😂

Monday night, Angel grabbed 26 rebounds, breaking a WNBA single-game record that had stood since 2003. In the same game, she also broke the single-season rebounding record, reaching 458 with six games still left to play. Mind you, this was after a career-high 31-point game and being named Eastern Conference Player of the Week.

And before you goofies start warming your little keyboard warrior sausage link fingers up, 18 of those 26 were defensive rebounds. So...there’s that.

Imagine trying to embarrass somebody and they end up owning the trademark AND the records. Touché, Sis...touché.

Sylvia Gordon is the founder and manager of Elite Starr Presents, where she creates handcrafted puppets that bring joy, laughter, and creativity to children and adults alike. A breast cancer survivor, she discovered her passion for puppet-making in 2022 and has since created custom puppets featured in music videos for Detroit artist William O’Dell Hughes. Through every puppet she creates, Sylvia’s goal is simple: to spread smiles, inspire happiness, and brighten someone’s day.

Sandy's Land Black Doll Mobile Museum is a traveling educational exhibit in Detroit founded by Sandra Epps. It features over 300 Black dolls and historical facts to celebrate Black culture, promote self-love, and highlight the achievements of Black inventors, activists, musicians, and pioneers. WE BRING THE EXPERIENCE TO YOU‼️

Core Mission and Features Positive Representation: Promotes the motto "Love the Skin You're In!" by letting children and adults see themselves reflected positively.

Educational History: Uses dolls and written exhibits to tell the stories of historical and contemporary figures, creators, and civil rights leaders.

Community Connection: Encourages intergenerational storytelling and empowerment. It ties into Sandy's Land LLC initiatives of the Detroit Doll Show where the founder is focused on celebrating Black history and culture with the promotion of black art, authors and dolls with the mission to uplift Black women and girls with positive representation. The event draws collectors and families from around the Globe.
