Anna Polonsky returns to the CMDetroit stage for our opening night concert of our 83rd season!

Polonsky last performed for Chamber Music Detroit with clarinetist Anthony McGill. We welcome her back to the stage as she joins powerhouse performers Caitlin Lynch and Astrid Schween for a dynamic program of works for voice, cello, and piano featuring Richard Danielpour’s extraordinary chamber song cycle, the Canti Della Natura – Songs of Nature.

We are thrilled to welcome Juilliard String Quartet member Astrid Schween back to the Seligman stage for Opening Night!

Cellist Astrid Schween has gained a rich following and enjoys a multifaceted career as a soloist, chamber artist and teacher. Since joining the Juilliard String Quartet and Juilliard Cello Faculty in 2016, she has appeared at many of the world’s great concert halls, recorded for SONY Records, and collaborated with performers Itzhak Perlman, Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Emmanuel Ax, and composers Mario Davidovsky and Jörg Widmann, among others. She has been featured on National Public Radio, in The Strad Magazine, and Strings Magazines, and was a special guest speaker on the topic of Women in Music at the Library of Congress.

We welcome metro Detroit naitive Caitlin Lynch whose "rich, shimmering soprano shines with a resplendent inner light" (Opera News) for our Opening Night concert where she will be joined by the Juilliard String Quartet's Astrid Schween and acclaimed pianist Anna Polonksy.

Declared “luminous” by the New York Times and “eloquent” by the Wall Street Journal, Ms. Lynch has captivated audiences worldwide with her portrayals of iconic leading ladies. With a repertoire that encompasses Mozart to Verdi and Handel to Heggie, she brings her dynamic portrayals of both classic and contemporary operas to stages around the world, including the Metropolitan Opera, Detroit Opera, Houston Grand Opera and English National Opera.

Meet our BABC Artists!

D-Composed Chicago
Started in 2017 by Kori Coleman & Yelley Taylor and led by their mission to uplift and empower society through the music of Black composers, this Chicago-based creative incubator acts as a bridge between the past and present to the future of representation, music-centered experiences, and the communal power of Black composers and their impact.

Jannina Kara Norpoth
Two time Grammy-nominee violinist/composer Jannina Norpoth, made her debut as a soloist with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra at age 14. Since then she has built a career as an innovative collaborative artist with a passion for contemporary music, genre bending and improvisation, a sought after arranger and orchestrator, and an advocate for a more inclusive and versatile landscape in classical music.

Cole Randolph
Cole Randolph, a Posse Foundation Leadership scholar, is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison holding degrees in mathematics, music performance, and economics. Randolph was born and raised in Washington DC and began playing the cello at the age of five. He has performed in many venues including the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and The White House.
