I would like to share that I have accepted a position as a percussionist with the United States Army Band. I will be shipping to Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training(Army music school) early next week.

I owe an unpayable debt to my family, my friends, acquaintances, and strangers who have influenced me along the way. There are so many “thank you” dedications I have; if you are reading this, know that you have directly or indirectly helped me achieve this goal. I would like you to know how sincerely grateful I am. I hope to pay it forward in hard work, excellence, and dedication to those around me.

I love this country and I look forward to serving the best way I know how.

Today is the anniversary of a significant change in my life.

On this day last year I was lost and alone. It is easy to say this was the worst period of my life by far. I was nieve and felt worthless. I needed to reevaluate my path and make decisions that would and still affect my future. If you were around me this time last year you may have even noticed how much more reserved I was. I literally dropped off the map.

I didn’t handle everything well and there are some times that I still have doubts. But I know this; I know who I am now more than ever before. I know the path I am taking to be the best at what I do is the right path. I know when to make decisive action. I know kindness is the answer. I know when to walk away from things that no longer serve me. I know how to forgive. I know how to be patient and trust the process.

I believe now more than ever that adversity is the key to strength. I would not wish pain or suffering on anyone, but to struggle and fight for what is right to you is deeply valuable and requires absolute trust.

Don’t give up on yourself and you will always find a way to be the best version of you.
