Architect Paolo Nicolai defines himself as a “microplastic designer.” While his works of art are inspired by classical art, he is contemporary in his use of unconventional material: recycled plastic. His passion for this material comes from his interest in recycling and reusing environmentally polluting substances.

Within the exposition, there are four artworks displayed: Sileno, Divinità in Atarassi, Cavallo di Selene, and Venere ultrapop.

Since 1963, Rivierasca Spa has produced polyester laminates reinforced with fiberglass. Aiming for low-impact environmental disposal of fiberglass, the company researched and created Glebanite®.

This process has been studied thanks to a research project in cooperation with the Polytechnic of Milan, SmartLab laboratories of Lecco, and private partner GS4C. Glebanite® is obtained from recycling processes that see fiberglass waste blended with resins and other fiberglasses. The quality of the product enables its application in very varied functional and design projects.

Smeg, whose Italian acronym stands for Smalterie Metallurgiche Emiliane Guastalla, is an Italian multinational company that produces household appliances.

Founded in 1948 by Vittorio Bertazzi, this business began as a glazing and metalworking company. In the 1950s, together with its metal processing activities, the company began producing the first household cooking appliances. One of these was the 1956 “Elisabeth,” the first gas cooker to feature automatic ignition, safety valves in the oven, and a cooking programmer.

Through the decades, Smeg has received numerous important awards and honors from relevant institutions and magazines worldwide, thanks to its deep commitment to quality and design.

Parmesan cheese embodies a unique and extraordinary journey through a 1000-year-old tradition that still occurs in the same iconic places, with the same ingredients, and most definitely with the same passion.

During the Middle Age, Cistercian and Benedectine monks were the first producers of Parmesan cheese, given that they were motivated to make a cheese that could last over time.

Today, Parmesan cheese has been recognized with a PDO (Protected Denomination of Origin) logo, which protects it, given that it is the most counterfeit and copied cheese in the world.

In 1959, Giampaolo Dallara began his path to success by working alongside Enzo Ferrari. Soon after, when he became the technical manager of Lamborghini, the legendary Miura was born (1966).

Giampaolo Dallara conceptualized and created the fastest Formula 1 cars, and after some time, he founded the Dallara Automobili in 1972. Year after year, Dallara built the best cars of his time, always using some of the most advanced technologies and devices available, like the wind tunnel introduced for the first time in Italy by Dallara. As of 2020, all the racing cars from Formula 3 competition (and ) are made by Dallara. Nowadays, more than 300 Dallara cars race every week.

Shown in the exhibition, an Indycar made of carbon fiber that actually raced. We celebrated with them 50 years of Italian Excellence!

Grivel was the first company in the world to create specific products for alpinism. More than 200 years ago, in 1818, a family of blacksmiths called “Grivel” started to shift their production of agricultural tools into a business that could satisfy the needs of rich tourists who, for some strange reason, were determined to climb mountains.

In , we had: The “Machine”(a Grivel ice axe that deeply transformed the design of technical tools), Grivel crampons (which solve the issues of piled snow under the crampons with the use of the first proactive anti-balling plate), and “Twin Gate,” the first carabiner with two counterposed openings. In 2014, this carabiner was awarded a “Compasso d’Oro” Prize that, for the first time in its history, was awarded to an outdoor item.

Born in 1912, this company has over a century-old history of life and culture of leather, its material of choice. One of the protagonists of and superior interior design on a world scale, Poltrona Frau is a true Ambassador of Italian excellence. Always coherent with its values and identity, it is now part of the Haworth group, an American ( based) holding that is a leader in office furniture.

Ever since its creation, creative research is part of Poltrona Frau’s DNA, with an incredible urge to propose new patterns, solutions, and mediums. Today, like in the past, Poltrona Frau is recognizable for its savoir-faire, which is intended as brilliant craftsmanship, vision, dedication, design, and quality realization of concepts. All of this is a heritage of knowledge that rotates around the leather. Such an elegant, impeccable material is the true soul of the iconic past and contemporary works of Poltrona Frau.

We are honored to have Poltrona Frau’s excellence in the installation. Some of them, like the Let it be sofa or the Solaria set, the first outdoor collection of the company, have been designed by Ludovica+Roberto Palomba. At the same time, the Niviola armchair is a creation of Roberto Lazzeroni.
