RIP to the legend …
It is with a heavy heart to announce that Richard Moll, the voice of Harvey Dent / Two-Face on the television series ‘Batman: The Animated Series’ and ‘The New Batman Adventures’, passed away peacefully on October 26 in his home at the age of 80.
Richard Moll is known for his role as the gentle giant Aristotle Nostradamus "Bull" Shannon on NBC’s ‘Night Court’ (1984-1992). Moll in a 1985 interview discussed playing the fan favorite character, stating "He's got a menacing exterior that can scare anybody, but you can tell right away that he's just a big, good-hearted guy”.
While Moll’s filmography beginning in the late 1960s includes live action television and film roles such as “The Sword and the Sorcerer”, “Happy Days”, “The Flintstones”, “But I'm a Cheerleader”, and “Scary Movie 2”, his voice over work implemented his hulking yet gentle demeanor helped bring to life many characters of the classic and modern DC Animated Universe. Moll is the first actor to voice the Batman universe character Harvey Dent and his villainous persona Two-Face in ‘Batman: The Animated Series’ (1992-1995) and ‘The New Batman Adventures’ (1997-1999), bringing to life and helping define the classic complex rogue in the Dark Knight’s gallery.
Within the DC Universe, Moll has voiced Emperor Spooj in ‘Superman: The Animated Series’ (1996), Rodin Krick in ‘The Zeta Project’ (2002), Java in ‘Justice League’ (2002), and reprised his role as Dent’s Two-Face along with voicing the character Lew Moxon. in the 2010 ‘Batman: The Brave and the Bold’ episode “Chill of the Night!”. Richard Moll’s distinctive and talented presence on television and film over the last five decades has made him beloved actor for critics and fans alike. For the Batman mythology, we thank Richard Moll for helping to mold the Two-Face persona outside of DC comic books and his contributions to the animated universe.
