Since 1997, the Michigan Fine Arts Institute, formerly known as the Beverly Thomas Fine Arts Institute, has worked towards fostering the love and development of the arts in young people.

We believe that young people need a variety of worthwhile activities in which to engage if they are to grow spiritually, physically and creatively. The arts have always been excellent vehicles for reaching young people. Through these disciplines, they can express self-pride, discover their heritage, and explore avenues for emotional release. For our young people living in congested urban areas, the MFAI camp experience is the difference that makes the difference.

Alumni Shoutouts!

SHAYLYN ANDERSON-GARNER

Artistically known as Shay Shanise, is an alumni who attended camp the summer of 2014. She went on to attend and graduate from Columbia College Chicago, with a B.A in dance and marketing minor. Currently, Shay teaches dance to youth and adults within the Grand Rapids, MI area, along with performing and teaching dance at private events. You can catch her teaching at Haus of Glass Dance and Midwest Movement Collective.
