Dear Friends.

Despite our signing of an agreement on May 7th, one which they created, the DWSD and the City of Detroit has yet to resolve our property issues. We have surpassed the time necessary to assemble musical talent, vendors, sponsors and staff to bring you quality events.

Regrettably, I must announce that the 2026 season of the Brightmoor Music Series is cancelled. We sincerely hope that all of the issues will be resolved soon, so that our fall events will be unaffected.

Please continue to sign and share our petition (www.WilliamsPark.org/petition) and we will broadcast updates as they become available.

Thank you all and hope to see you soon.

Michael

Unfortunately, our Classic Car Meetup has been cancelled.

We are still awaiting approval for the park's property acquisition to continue the expansion. With the many broken promises the City of Detroit has made, we do not feel comfortable moving forward at this time. Our sincere hope is that we resolve this matter in time to save the 2026 season of the Brightmoor Music Series, the Burgess Street Food Festival and the Brightmoor Light Holiday Festival.

Thank you all for your support. We will keep everyone updated.

Great day,

We have another chance to ask Mayor Mary Sheffield to keep the Etheldra Mae Williams Park open and save the 2026 season of Brightmoor Music Series and other events. Please join the Zoom meeting TONIGHT APRIL 28, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. Share a story about your experience at the park and tell the administration that you support our efforts. Let them know that Detroit taxpayers should not have to spend $100,000 in legal fees when a forty-five-minute meeting with the heads of DWSD, DLBA, Detroit Housing & Revitalization Department, Detroit Corporation Counsel and the Mayor would bring an "Out of Court" resolve.

In a recent television interview, the head of DWSD redacted the facts and truncated the truth. We are not asking for more than others were paid. We are asking that the written promises of the DLBA be kept and the DWSD's bullying cease. Let's get everyone at the same table and work out a solution!

A link to the Zoom meeting is below. Please login by 7:00 p.m. and raise your hand to ask a question. Please take a screenshot of your conversation.

Thank you and Let's Do This Detroit!

Great day Supporters,

Thank you for taking the time to sign our petition urging a conversation between the Williams Park Alliance and the Sheffield administration. The signatures we received are invaluable and the stories... well, the stories are heartfelt! We truly appreciate the support.

Yesterday we found out that many of you were asked to "Chip In" to increase visibility to the petition. While we appreciate your generosity, we must disclose that our park IS NOT affiliated with Change Org. We found this platform through an internet search and the petition template was "FREE" to use. It was unclear that they would solicit contributions for their own causes. We are unaware of their mission and the intended use of collected funds. If you are familiar with Change Org and are comfortable with your donation, then ignore this message. If not, you may request a refund by clicking https://help.change.org/contact-us and following the instructions.

Our park was not asking for contributions; however, if you would like to donate, please do so by clicking http://www.williamspark.org/donation or Zelle to (313) 272-4379. We apologize for the confusion, ask that you please continue to share the petition and if you have visited the park; Tell Us Your Stories!

Thank you,

Michael Williams, President
