Sad Baddies Club is back to our monthly second Thursday of the month craft evening at the Holmes Art Cellar! We will be repurposing clothing for September. If you want to learn the basics in embroidering this is a great place to experiment.

Feel free to bring materials and snacks to share! We will probably have a fall themed movie playing in the background so drop a comment below to let me know your fall favorites.

If you have art supplies to donate, we want it! We want to help you recycle! We're especially looking for things like beads, buttons, paper, paint brushes, shells, canvases, empty note books, ribbons, or any kind of unused art supplies you know you wont use. All of these materials go towards outreach and our kids art programs to be remade into fabulous works of art. If you have stuff to drop off, feel free to reach out to Emma (see contact below) or bring it to the box office at the Historic Holmes Theatre in Detroit Lakes!

LAST CALL! 🎨 Call for Artists: Art on a Stick 2026

The Detroit Lakes Arts & Culture Commission, in partnership with Project 412, is seeking artists for the second installment of the Art on a Stick Project. Selected designs will be printed on vinyl wraps and installed on the large “popsicle”-style posts located in four city parks around Detroit Lakes.

This rotating public art project brings fresh creativity to our parks each year—and your artwork could be part of the next installation!

*** Applications are due May 1, 2026.

Artists of all backgrounds are encouraged to apply and help bring more art into our community spaces.

For details and artist application go online to CityOfDetroitLakes.com/Government and select “Arts & Culture Commission under the “Government” tab.
