LAST CALL! 🎨 Call for Artists: Art on a Stick 2026

The Detroit Lakes Arts & Culture Commission, in partnership with Project 412, is seeking artists for the second installment of the Art on a Stick Project. Selected designs will be printed on vinyl wraps and installed on the large “popsicle”-style posts located in four city parks around Detroit Lakes.

This rotating public art project brings fresh creativity to our parks each year—and your artwork could be part of the next installation!

*** Applications are due May 1, 2026.

Artists of all backgrounds are encouraged to apply and help bring more art into our community spaces.

Maggie Peterson is an artist who graduated from MSU Moorhead with a degree in Fine Art with an emphasis in Printmaking. She enjoys creating a wide variety of artwork with people of all ages. Maggie has created art programming with the Detroit Lakes Community Center in the Holmes Theater and The Boys and Girls Club of Detroit Lakes. She also works in the Art Department at Lakeshirts making artwork for Tshirts. She has participated in multiple art exhibitions including Hawley Art Shows, Lakes Region Arts Council Art Shows, New York Mills Cultural Center Shows, and MacRostie Art Center Shows.

I’m a Minnesota-based painter and printmaker. I studied fine art at the Perpich Center for Arts Education and the University of Minnesota. My work has been featured in group exhibitions in New York, the Twin Cities, and Northern Minnesota. Working from observation and imagination, I focus on the human figure, landscape and still life.
