On January 17, 2026 I will bring my atavistic raw manuscripts for the celebration of the most loved Romanian poet Mihai Eminescu, at Romanian Heritage Center in Chicago.

The two raw manuscripts that I’ll bring with me at the show are one of mine (with poems I wrote in the 1990s) and one of my grandfather’s (with his poems wrote in the 1940s on the battlefields).

I will recite my poem “Testament” from my own atavistic manuscript. The attendees will be able to see it, hear it, feel it, like the sound of the sea coming out of an deserted shell… Come on over, and lend your ear and soul toward artistic emotions…

Pre-save "Testament" today on Spotify. It will be available on all streaming services this Thursday, January 15, 2026 to celebrate the Romanian National Day of Culture.

For me, my poem “Testament” is about what we choose to leave behind for future generations… and about what we want to happen to us after we have fulfilled our purpose on this earth.

I wrote it at a time when I believed I had nothing important to leave behind. But I’ve come to think that each of us has something of the soul to pass on, and it would be truly wonderful to let others discover our world while we’re still around… so we have time to explain ourselves.

For example, the album artwork that I will release on Thursday, January 15 is a photograph taken by Gena with a Smena camera in the Bucegi Mountains in the early 2000s. I chose to adjust it slightly and add a gray beard to myself with a little help from AI, to suggest the moment of reciting this poetic testament.

The rest is history—and story, and song, and verse… 🎵🤗
