Call for filmmakers! The Iowa Department of Human Rights’ Office of Native American Affairs is seeking cost proposals for the following two new video projects:

1) A land and first people acknowledgement for Iowa
2) A video to bring awareness and increase understanding of the upcoming acknowledgement of the 100th anniversary of citizenship for Native Americans in the United States

Apply before June 1 to have your short film (2-20 minutes) considered for an episode of our television series. If selected, you’ll be a part of the statewide broadcast on Iowa PBS and receive a check for $500 from the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs.

At this year’s Iowa Fine Arts Education Summit, we’ll have a special guest to represent the world of filmmaking. Fresh Films from the Quad Cities will be hosting a breakout session in which teachers can learn about standards and curriculums that will bring filmmaking, video production, and multimedia skills into the K-12 classroom.
This year's summit will be held at the FFA Enrichment Center on the campus of Des Moines Area Community College in Ankeny. It is presented in partnership with the Iowa Alliance for Arts Education.
