Iowa Dance Theatre's wonderfully rich history includes involvement with the Westminster Fine Arts Series and the Donna Reed Festival. In this year's production of The Nutcracker at the Des moines Civic Center, 260 dancers from 30 dance studios are involved. IDT holds a wide range of repertory in ballet, modern, and jazz including Snow White and Dracula, and holds the annual Tap Des Moines in downtown Des Moines, with the cooperation of many central Iowa dance studios and the Des Moines Adult Education department. IDT also hosts summer workshops and master classes, and offers choreographic opportunities and in-school residencies.

Did you know that Iowa Dance Theatre was the recipient of a Prairie Meadows community betterment grant last year that we used to commission artist Susan Crabtree to paint us this original Iowa snow scene backdrop? We love that our production has all original Iowa themed backdrops and we are grateful to Prairie Meadows for the grant!

Here’s a Civic Center update regarding ticket sales for this week:

An update on this, the construction timeline has changed slightly and our ticket window will now be closed Monday and Tuesday next week, but we will have a temporary ticket window in our Nollen Lobby on Wednesday, so we will be open for in-person transactions on the public on-sale day and for the remainder of that week. While we have the temporary window, ticket purchasers will be directed to enter the building through the West lobby door off 3rd street (the door closest to Walnut, right next to the revolving door)
