ART IN MINNESOTA

Every year the Minnesota State Fair shows thousands of art pieces submitted by Minnesotans for judging and display. Throughout the disciplines, one theme was clear — Minnesotans were profoundly affected by the presence of federal agents in the state this winter.

FUN ART

Artist Grace Baldwin—who goes by Grace of Spades on social media—has been quietly building the most iconic functional art you’ve ever seen. She’s transforming the exact relics of our 90s and early 2000s childhoods into actual furniture you can put in your actual home.

And the internet is absolutely losing it.

IOWA ARTIST

Dan Perry of Waterloo, Iowa is an award-winning interdisciplinary artist who works in a variety of media and scales from gallery-sized sculptures to monumental public sculptures. The imagery in his work is an amalgamation of the familiar and the abstract composed in ways that tell a story to which the viewer becomes a witness - part of a scene; a moment suspended in time. He believes in form, invention, and objects well made.

Dan was honored with a commission to create the Iowa State Fair Legacy sculpture. This permanent sculpture, aptly titled: “Legacy”, celebrates the fair and its story. It will be a permanent fixture on the Iowa State Fairgrounds for years to come.

If you happen to be at the check it out from the or the ! It will light up at night too!

ARTSVOTE

Americans for the Arts Action Fund

Creativity is not optional. Vote for the Arts.

For too long, the arts have been treated as a luxury. But the reality is that art, culture, and creativity are inextricably linked to thriving communities and a healthy democracy. Creative expression is powerful, but voting is how we protect it. This election season, we are mobilizing everyone who values the impact of the arts to show up and make their voices heard at the ballot box.
