The celebration features delicious food for sale, scarecrow making ($), corn shelling, hayrides, an old-time sawmill demonstration, and woodworkers. The Tool Museum will be open and we hope to have some demos by our resident blacksmith. Lots of fun for the entire family so come see the animals and spend some time at the farm on October 1st! Bring your chair and blanket for the outdoor seating under the trees and listen to King Street Bluegrass, the Eddie Dickerson Trio, and Shannon Leigh Reynolds. Outdoor bluegrass festival in Montgomery County Maryland

The Friends of the Agricultural History Farm Park, Inc. will host Christmas on the Farm on Saturday and Sunday, December 8 and 9, from Noon - 5:00 p.m. The house and grounds will be decorated and there will be hayrides, music and a bake sale! Once more Bluegrass on the Farm was fortunate to have an International Bluegrass Music Association award winner as guest. Danny Paisley was just selected as Male Singer of the Year for 2016.

The weather for Saturday's Bluegrass on the Farm festival is great! A high of 82 degrees and 65% humidity with only a 5 - 10% chance of rain during the day. There will even be some clouds to keep the sun out of the musician's eyes while they are performing.

A little while back, we decided to grab lunch in the lodge at Mt Mitchell, the highest peak east of the Mississippi right here in Western North Carolina (about 20 miles from our place). While there, we posted the announcement for 2016 Bluegrass on the Farm (Sept 17). I guess now we can say we have taken our marketing efforts for the event to new heights!

The eBay auction for the beautiful hand-made Eastman mandolin donated by Tim Finch to support the Traditional Music Foundation Scholarship Fund has now officially started. The auction will close three days after the festival on September 22 . Check it out.

This beautiful mandolin is individually hand-built by Eastman using traditional materials “Old World” craftsmanship. It has a solid spruce top, solid maple back sides with ebony fingerboard adjustable ebony bridge.
If you like outdoor fun and music, remember, Bluegrass on the Farm is a fund raiser for the non-profit Traditional Music Foundation and the Friends of the Farm. The simple act of buying a ticket, whether you go or not, supports Bluegrass on the Farm and the programs of Traditional Music Foundation, including the Scholarship Fund. We are not asking for "$19 a month" - just $15 for a ticket. If you do go, you will have a great time no matter what kind of music you like. Go online and buy a couple of tickets now. The TMF programs get the ticket proceeds and you get the satisfaction of having helped the cause as well as a fun day on the Farm. Support this event so it can continue.

This year's headliner, Larry Sparks, has just been announced by the International Bluegrass Music Association as an Inductee into the IBMA Hall of Fame. You might want to get your tickets now to see this legend in an intimate outdoor venue at Bluegrass on the Farm.

Fun video (<1minute) of the tent/shelter going up at last year's event. Actually, it turned out that we really needed it. Rain, rain go away! It did go away and the sun came out. The fans who came were treated to a very nice show by ClearSpring, Windy Ridge, and The Boxcars who were just great.
