And honestly? Then let so-and-so take your pictures. π€·πΌββοΈ
There is absolutely nothing wrong with choosing a photographer based on your budget. We all have different budgets, and I completely understand that.
But please understand that different photographers offer different experiences, quality, styles, equipment, editing, and expertise.
It took me 10 years to get where I am today, and Iβm still learning and growing every single day.
When you book a photographer, youβre not just paying for the 15, 30, or 60 minutes they have a camera in their hands.
Youβre paying for everything that happens before, during, and after your session.
The years of experience.
The online courses and education.
The constant learning and practice.
The camera equipment and lenses.
The SD cards and storage.
The computers and editing software.
The batteries and chargers.
The lighting equipment.
The props and session supplies.
The gas and travel.
The studio or location fees.
The time spent planning and preparing your session.
The communication back and forth.
The creative direction.
The hours spent culling and editing your gallery.
The online gallery and storage.
The time spent exporting and delivering your images.
The business subscriptions.
The marketing and advertising.
The taxes and business expenses.
The insurance and equipment protection.
And most importantly, youβre paying for the time, heart, creativity, and years of work that went into becoming the photographer youβre trusting with your memories. π€
There is SO much more happening behind the scenes than what you see during that little hour together.
So please donβt expect bottom-of-the-barrel pricing for high-quality, professional work.
And please donβt undervalue a photographer simply because you found someone cheaper.
If you love someoneβs work, support them.
Respect their time.
Respect their policies.
Respect their pricing.
Respect the years it took them to build their craft.
Because behind every photograph you love is a photographer who has invested years, money, time, education, and a whole lot of heart into learning how to create it.
Photography may be our passion, but it is also our small business.
Please treat it like one. π€πΈ
