Idle Hands are going..... Idle???????
idlehandshobbyshop.com will be closing and no orders can be placed after April 26th. IHH also has no events planned in the near future SO IF THERE WAS ANYTHING YOU WERE WANTING TO ORDER DO IT NOW, Most everything should be in stock and able to be shipped out if you order in that time.
but WHY you may ask? Forgive this long post but I want to leave just one pinned post.
Kaylyn here, this isn't a Gimmick to try and get you to buy anything. I don't know about you guys but I'm personally very tired of constantly being sold to with "ACT NOW!, LAST CHANCE! LIMITED SALE! etc" style gimmicks so thats the last thing I would want to do to you. I am just incredibly burnt out. Its been evident for awhile now that this is a one woman operation. I'm one woman who was running on some magic motivation and love for creating things that dragged her friends along with her even when they really didn't seem to want to. That's on me, I've never liked the idea of doing things alone and running a business with my friends just seemed right. Not that Sinead or Moros don't like being a part of Idle Hands, I wouldn't put that on them and I wouldn't even say I could have gotten here without their help but I can tell they were just wanting to be supportive friends and this was never truly what they wanted to do. Both still amazing artists and I hope to be able to do more events and art collabs with them in the future, as well as continue to host the art they want to make and sell on the website when we open up again.
Yes, I do plan to open the shop back up in the future but I am currently in university and all of my waking time is either a struggle to work to pay bills or to do homework. This has left very very little time to make art more than just a thought bubble in my head. None of us have been able to do much for art or been able to get events lined up.
No events has been the worst of it. Just one good artist alley event at a convention gives us enough motivation and funding to last a few months at the minimum. But currently we're getting maybe 2 tiny local events a year and they're so spread out we are unable to give as much time and money into new products or promotion as we would like. Its at the point now that I've cancelled a few events that we were going to do this year and currently plan to have none for 2026 because the funding from past events is just gone and I paying out of pocket doesn't work when my pockets are only full of lint.
During this hiatus I do still have plans for Idle Hands Hobbies, BIG ONES. An overhaul and upgrade I've been wanting for years, as well as better merch, but since I'm funding this out of pocket. This means I'll only be working on Idle Hands when I have spare time and money. University is almost over and my car is almost paid off So I am hoping for an emergence by next spring when the theoretical thaw melts.
However the future is never REALLY known and motivation can hit at anytime so please be sure to follow us for updates, scheduled events, or for any future exclusive temporary store openings.
Thank you for supporting some weird artists and NEVER let those hands go idle.
(p.s. I will be leaving the webshop up for access for event reviewers to view our work portfolios, but the ability to check out will be disabled to save on overhead, if it becomes an issue I will change the website to PW only)
