Here are some things you should know when attending one of my shows. First and foremost, I have been working in this industry for quite some time. I can't make EVERYONE happy, and at busier shows, sometimes people get the short end of the stick and will not sing because of the venue's popularity. Some Frequently Asked Questions:
🎧HOW THE ROTATION WORKS: My first rotation is 12-15 singers. My second rotation will be those 12-15 singers with new singers added in. So, the second rotation will run like this: old singer (one of the first 12-15 singers), new singer. In the second rotation, if there are more new singers than old singers, new singers are added to the end of this rotation. The second rotation can be over two hours on busy nights! I like to make this as fair as possible, so if you do a duet or sing with someone, this will "count" as one of the singers' places in the rotation, and the other singer in this duet will go to the bottom of the rotation to keep things as fair as possible. My goal is to limit each singer to ONE SONG per rotation.
🎧 First rotation usually takes an hour and a half or longer. The second rotation is two and a half hours or longer on busy nights. On busy nights, we usually run only TWO rotations. There have been times when we have had so many requests that we had only one rotation. PLEASE BE PATIENT; I am trying to get as many people to sing as possible.
🎧 Because I use a QR Code to take your requests. Please use your First Name and an Initial or Stage Name. Please use this name all night, so I know what you want to sing and add it to your list for the evening. If you are singing with someone, PLEASE include their name as well!! I will ask what you are singing when you come to the stage to confirm your identity! If you use different names to sing more than once in a rotation, I will let you know when you come up that we are moving on to a new singer. Again, the goal is to be FAIR and to have everyone sing ONCE PER ROTATION.
🎧 NO, I don't let people see the rotation. Again, I am going off the list provided to me by the QR Code that you scanned and or the text message that you sent in. It gives me your details, like your name and when the request was submitted. I will be working off this list as the rotation. Again, I aim to get to as many singers throughout the night as possible.
🎧 When starting the show, I will play music to get the night going and to give people time to sign up and get in the rotation. When I am busy (12-15 singers or more), we go back-to-back singers. Also, I will play music between rotations and Karaoke singers for those not singing this evening. Please come up as quickly as possible when called to keep the rotation rolling!
🎧 Not ALL Songs are licensed for Karaoke!! Please have a backup in mind, just in case!
🎧 I will call your name THREE times. If you do not hear me, I will text you and let you know you have been called. You must show me this message when you see me at the DJ booth to get you back into the rotation. This is why I am asking for your number. I am not responsible if your phone number is submitted incorrectly or if you were called and skipped! Also, you are skipped if you miss the second time you are called after the first text message is sent. I will not have time to track you down on busy evenings to get you back in the rotation. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE TO COME UP WHEN CALLED.
🎧 NO, I will not put in a different person if a singer is skipped. We will continue with the rotation that we have already started.
🎧 Songs sung earlier in the evening will not be repeated!! NO EXCEPTIONS!
🎧 I do like to make sure that singers have space to perform. Please keep the "stage" as clear as possible!
🎧 Although tips are appreciated, they do not change the rotation. I operate on FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASES. The sooner you get here in the evening, the more likely you will be able to sing more. When asked if you can move up and sing next if you tip me, the answer is NO!
🎧 I operate from 9 pm to 1 am; if my rotation is full, I can no longer take more singers for the evening. I aim to get to as many singers as possible. The sooner you get to the venue, the sooner I can get you in the rotation and possibly have you sing MULTIPLE times!! It is unlikely that if you show up at 12:45 am, I will be taking requests. I know everyone is excited to sing! I will be going through singers as quickly as possible! Please sit tight and know I will try to get to all singers by our 1 am cut-off time!
🎧 DO NOT touch my equipment. This includes my computer, speakers, or board! If I am not near my equipment and you are caught (there are cameras at every venue I work at; also, I usually have someone near my booth tell me that you have been on my equipment.), you will be kicked out of the rotation for the evening. NO EXCEPTIONS!
🎧 I will not argue with you about my rotation or when you are coming up. This proven system has worked for MANY YEARS. If you want to be disrespectful, know you will SING at my discretion. I am not here to be disrespected but to facilitate the party.
