After a super successful first year, we’re so excited to open applications for the second year of SHUGO 😘

Join us in Kyoto from October 19–29, 2026 for ten days in Japan learning, making, and building community through 🌱

We’ll spend our time learning directly from master craftspeople— stepping into their studios, working with our hands, and slowing down enough to really understand the materials, histories, and care behind each practice 🙌

Some of what’s included in our agenda:
✸ A three-day indigo dyeing workshops including learning about sukumo indigo compost—a seasonal process you can only experience in the fall
✸ Craft techniques like shibori pattern-making
✸ A full-day botanical dyeing workshop
✸ A mokuhanga woodblock printing workshop
✸ An accordion bookbinding workshop
✸ Green tea ceremony at a special Machi- ya house
✸ Cultural experiences woven throughout, including an optional visit to an authentic Ninja Dojo, shopping at a Flea Market, and exploring hand-picked, lesser-known shops, bookstores, and museums that celebrate Kyoto’s arts and crafts
✸ And just as importantly - building lasting community with other curious, creative folks along the way

Over the next few months, we’ll be sharing more about the craftspeople, workshops, and places we’ll be learning from.

PLEASE share with your friends & families 🌞
