I drive and/or walk past this appaloosa horse almost every day. It lives just down the street and is so striking with its many spots; I have stopped to watch it and say hello many times. Our neighborhood also has a flock of turkeys that often hang out near this horse's field (but roam all over). When I took this photo to use as a reference for my paintings, I'm pretty sure he was sleeping with one foot relaxed and his eyes closed, not bothered by the turkeys wandering around his field. Dreaming of Spots, a 12" x 12" acrylic and oil on canvas painting by Monica Hokeilen, now on view in the Being on Earth exhibit at SYNC Gallery in Denver's Art District on Santa Fe.
