At the 2026 Western Stock Show Association Annual Meeting of the Members, National Western members, leadership, and supporters gathered at The Legacy to reflect on another successful year of the National Western and look ahead to the future of the organization. 🤠

This year, alongside his family, we celebrated Douglas L. Jones, who concluded seven years as Chairman of the Board and nearly 35 years of service to the association. Doug’s leadership, vision, and dedication have helped shape National Western’s impact on agriculture, youth education, and western heritage for generations to come.

We’re grateful for his continued support as Immediate Past Chairman and excited to welcome Bruce Wagner as the new Chairman of the Board as we continue building momentum for the future of National Western.

Here’s to honoring the legacy, celebrating the people behind it, and continuing to strengthen the future of the West together.

Back in January, the arena lights shone a little brighter during our First Responders Rodeo presented by STIHL, as we recognized the men and women who serve our communities every day.

From firefighters and paramedics to law enforcement and emergency personnel, we were proud to honor those who answer the call when it matters most.

In partnership with STIHL, the National Western Stock Show was also honored to present a $5,000 donation to the Wildland Firefighter Foundation in support of wildland firefighters and their families.

Thank you to all first responders for your service, sacrifice, and commitment to protecting our communities. 🤠❤️

The next chapter of Catch-A-Calf is officially underway. 🐮⭐

Congratulations to our NWSS 2026 Catch-A-Calf champions:
🏆 Kate Maricle — Grand Champion
🥈 Brianna Hollingsworth — Reserve Champion

Over the last week, 2027 participants kicked off their year-long journey through the Catch-A-Calf program with educational seminars, sponsor introductions, and finally taking their calves home.

From learning daily care and record keeping to meeting the sponsors who will support them throughout the year, these moments mark the beginning of much more than a livestock project. Catch-A-Calf teaches responsibility, relationships, hard work, and commitment, lessons that last far beyond the show ring.

We can’t wait to watch this next class grow alongside their calves and continue the legacy of one of the National Western Stock Show’s longest-running youth programs. 🤠🐂

Stock Show Through the Decades: 1956–1966

From fleece to champions in the ring, the late ’50s and early ’60s were packed with moments that defined a generation at the National Western Stock Show.

Each year brought a new lineup of grand champions, horses, cattle, lambs, and more, showcasing the hard work, grit, and pride of the community. These weren’t just winners, they were the standard-setters of their time.

As Denver grew, so did the city around the Stock Show. The construction of Interstate 70 cut straight through the grounds, forever changing the landscape of the event. It was a moment where tradition met transformation, proof that even as the world moved forward, the spirit of the West held strong.

¡Feliz Cinco de Mayo!

This Cinco de Mayo, we’re looking back on the spirit, pride, and tradition that filled the arena during our Mexican Rodeo Extravaganza, presented by Hutchison Western and Chevron, this past January at 🤠

The event brought together the rhythm, skill, and pageantry of charro culture, featuring Mexican-style bull riding, trick roping, mariachi music, daring escaramuzas, and more, all choreographed by fourth-generation champion charro Jerry Diaz with his family.

From start to finish, it was a vibrant celebration of heritage and the traditions that continue to shape the Western way of life.

Big rides. Big impact. 🤠

The Hunger Action Pro Rodeo presented by CommonSpirit Health brought the rodeo power on January 18, but the most meaningful moment happened beyond the arena.

In partnership with CommonSpirit Health, we proudly presented a $10,000 donation to Food Bank of the Rockies to help fight hunger across our communities.

That support means more meals, more resources, and more families cared for.
The dust may have settled, but the impact keeps going. Thank you for showing up and making a difference. 💪

From the arena to everyday life 🐄 At the National Western Stock Show, Catch-a-Calf is more than a moment in the show ring, it’s a year of commitment.

For Madi Steinman, catching Boone was just the beginning. What followed? Early mornings, long days, and showing up no matter what. Some days brought progress, others didn’t, but the work never stopped.

With support from her sponsor and mentors, Madi learned that Boone’s success depended on her consistency, and that lesson stuck far beyond the ring.
Since 1935, thousands of exhibitors have taken on this challenge. One calf. One year. A whole lot of grit. 🤠
