May 18th, we lost our brother, his creative spirit, with no fear, his courage and his strength to push through anything, especially diversity. Thank you for the lessons and molding my life😀

Artistic challenge!!! Please post pictures honoring the director, dancers, musicians, stage crew, costume staff, office coordinators and family members who made the dream of
Ballet Folklorico Netzahualcoytl,
Ballet Chicano De Aztlan, and National Chicano Dance Theater possible.
Picture it, 1967, we embarked on this journey in Denver to counteract racism against Native and Indigenous people in Colorado. Dance, theater and the arts was the educational component utilized to bring communities together.
Our history and cultural moments will be lost to generations if not captured for posterity.
Sharing pictures and stories on this social media platform will inspire younger generations by what their families achieved all those years ago.
Our account of events and history will be passed to future Chicano youth as they chart their path with new-found knowledge.

We need to continue to be that change we want to see in our world!

Puerto Rico December 1978 International Dance Festival, picture taken in front of the University of Puerto Rico, made possible by the most amazing brother, man, person, activist I have ever known! Honko made it possible for me to experience life as a sister, daughter, dancer, mother, in such a positive way. Dance was not always easy, it taught us dances adaptability, patience and perserverance we might not otherwise have experienced. I think of you all the time, miss you dearly.
