WKRPradio.com is the brainchild of radio and television talk show host, Mike Zinna. After being fired yet again from another corporate radio station, Zinna concluded that the only way to do meaningful broadcasting was to take the “Field of Dreams” approach. The truth about radio is that t

he business is completely dominated by massive broadcasting corporations that don’t give a damn about the listener, the artists, the hosts, or the community in which they broadcast. Not that there’s anything wrong with money… it’s just that when success is predicated on deceit, deception, and mostly on being a w***e, well, then some people would prefer to make a little less money. At some point in his tornadic broadcasting career, Zinna realized that some of the funniest, most intelligent, and truly interesting talk show hosts are not those same old white guys you hear on AM radio day after day, year after year. Remarkably, some of the best talent in radio are not in radio at all. They are people just like you. Your crazy uncle who unabashedly embarrasses himself in public, your best friend’s sister who knows everyone’s business, the bartender who remembers every name and has a wise-ass remark for every possible situation, or the husband and wife who started a neighborhood business from the ground up – these are the most compelling storytellers and conversationalists you may ever meet. The establishment radio hosts and their management pimps don’t want you to know this – because much of AM/FM radio is a scam, and most of the people who run it are phonies. Oh, and they also make a lot of money keeping you in the dark. Zinna, a troublemaker’s troublemaker, identified the scam of corporate radio early in his career. And when the time was right, he seized the opportunity to build, “the little pirate radio station that could.”
