A heart to heart is defined as a conversation between two close friends that is candid, intimate and personal. With this spirit in mind, we embark on our new adventure: Heart 2 Heart. Join us in The Black Box Lounge on the third Saturday of each month. We’ll be inviting DJs from vastly different circles of the local underground scene to have a back 2 back - a musical conversation. Every month will

feature three back 2 back sets from a rotating cast of our favorite local selectors. The team behind Heart 2 Heart is a trio of tastemakers with over three decades of combined experience throwing events, DJing, and running labels. Our collective love for sound system music and culture is as deep and personal as a conversation between two close friends. In an effort to spread the love, there will be no cover charge to attend Heart 2 Heart. We can’t wait to see what happens as genres collide, scenes cross-pollinate, and new friends are made. We'll see you in the dance!

We can’t believe this will be our last DJ feature for Heart2Heart! We are very happy to have these two djs connect and see how they will bridge their styles. 📚

We asked the dnb streets about Solid and they fu**ed us up for being nosey. Said they ain't snitchin but word is he's been raving for a real long time. Joe Solid comes from the Midwest but has called Denver home for the past 16 years. In that time, he's been a resident DJ at nearly every club that has hosted dnb in town - from Snake Pit up to the Black Box today. He is also proud to be a part of one of the best known US drum and bass crews, Recon. 💀

Hard to pin down to one style, he tends to drop footwork with drum n bass and he loves playing brand new biz! Catch him at the next Recon DnB event, at various venues around town, or perhaps at your favorite festival. 🥳

With an early influence in hip-hop and Miami bass, Florida-born Cory Magamoll began studying percussion and music theory in 1996, earning his first achievements as Pinellas All County Percussionist 1999. Expanding upon the organics of arrangement in percussion, he began delving into the teachings of jazz, rock, marching drum lines, and orchestra. By 2002, after a short stint at college in Orlando, Cory began touring the southern United States as the drummer for indie rock outfits Hythloday and Sleeping Girl Drowning.

Crazier creatures called, leading Cory to forsake the southeast in 2006 in favor of New York City's vast musical atmospheres. Leaving the classroom in 2008 with a degree in audio engineering, he held an internship building and running live sound Cory was also involved with throwing local dance parties in Brooklyn NY with friends Cory James and Peter Demos. The weekly and bi weekly parties DeepDisco, Carbon and Standout.

Cory Is currently a resident of Denver’s Sorted Social Club and drummer for The Coaching Sessions. 🥁

Next up in the DJ features for our H2H series finale we have b2b ! This pair of friends have a special something ready to go for Saturday. ✨

Robonix is a DJ/Producer from Denver, Colorado. As an immense (and nearly obsessive) appreciator of music from across all genres, his decade's worth of experience as a DJ has found him playing a wide variety of styles of underground electronic music. Over the last few years especially, Robonix has settled his obsession to a more specific sound. A hypnotic style of techno that is as driving as it is delicate, relentless yet soothing. Nevertheless, he still finds himself exploring other unique sounds and often uses his performances as a means to glide between stylings. 🎹

Music is the universal language. A collection of sculpted waves of sound designed to communicate abstract emotions through vibrations. J Claus uses this medium to blend the layers of reality and surrealism, building mind-bending rhythms layered with rich synths and shuddering bass. His selections are deep and groove oriented. Behind the decks he exudes a passionate vibration that infects the crowd. 🎶

It is that time again! We would like to spotlight the final set of b2b djs for our H2H series finale this weekend!! 💕

First up we’ve got Details. With a bio that reads “high end magic, left-field house and breaks” , we will have to lean into the details of his tune selection to really see what he’s all about! 🎯

Ever since Derteedisco picked up the decks, his unique mixing style of disco/90's vocals with hot tracks continues to give us a sound that starts parties and brings down the clubs. With over 600 private shows, numerous club events, playing alongside the likes of Golf Clap, Ferreck Dawn, Ocean Roulette, Treasure Fingers, Luke The Knife, Lupe Fuentes, Option 4, J Phillip, Ryan Shepard, DLMT, Subset, Shdws, Mark Farina, Justin Jay, The Funk Hunters, Luke Andy. Derteedisco makes an excellent addition to any line-up. Currently a part of the Denver collective: My Homies Spin Records and the Los Angeles Label: Lots of Practice. 🎧

After a truly amazing year, our cups and our hearts are overflowing. Our goal when we started Heart 2 Heart was to see what would happen when genres collided, scenes cross-pollinated, and new friends were made. We can safely say that all of these can be checked off the list. For all of us, the best part about this event is how many friendships were made or even strengthened through it.

Denver has grown into a top tier city for electronic music, and we've all felt the energy building over the last few years as the local scene has flourished. We wanted to capitalize on this by shining a light on some of the artists that we felt are truly pushing the bar. And while we didn't get to invite everyone to play that we would have liked, our overall mission was definitely accomplished.

This upcoming Heart 2 Heart will be our final edition, and what a fun experiment it's been! We want to send a huge thank you to The Black Box staff - such a top notch crew of amazing people. And none of this could have been possible without the DJs and dancers. Shout out to all of you. It's been such a great time and an unforgettable experience overall. We hope to see you next Saturday night as we host the final edition of Heart 2 Heart, free as always. See you in the Dance!

It’s time to highlight our final pair of b2b djs playing TONIGHT for our October h2h! 🍂🎃

Not content to stick to one genre, Kevin Kirkland has been playing a multitude of sounds for over a decade. Originally starting as a side project, the alias Sidechick was born out of a need to branch out from the techno centric moniker he'd been using. Recently he has been focusing on uptempo broken beat electro and various jungle-adjacent sounds. 🔊🎛

Perfect Manual is a DJ from Oakland, and Founder of the Denver music collective Send/Receive. Send/Receive’s mission is to bring more breaks, electro, and UK inspired sounds to Denver’s underground. In a short time, they’ve worked with the likes of Jensen Interceptor, Ciel, DJ Voices, and others. As a DJ, you can expect to hear him play a wide range of genres/bpms including UK dubstep, Miami bass and classic electro. 💫😎

It’s hard to believe how much Diego Santana has already released dozens of memorable singles through well-known labels like Bien Amier Records as well as Blind Vision Records, Kina Music, and MINIM Records, just to name a few. 💿

Santana’s constant drive to step outside of his comfort zone and challenge himself has played no small part in his tireless work ethic as a producer. However, his music all comes from a very authentic place. Everything he produces comes from whatever he might be feeling at the time, and you can hear it in every nuance of each arrangement. 🎼

Matthew Shogi is a left-field dance music producer, event curator, and DJ who splits his time between Austin and Denver. He has held a number of residencies in both cities, in addition to hosting DIY/underground events under the .zone brand with his partner .v.dam . As an aficionado of experimental dance music in its many forms, his range in a given set can often be hard to pin down. Fluidly moving between acid house, old school electro, new school breaks, high energy techno, and a healthy dose of jungle and foot work to boot, you’ll often find yourself joyously and seamlessly transported to wide variety of different sonic universes. 💫🌌

It’s time to spotlight our djs for this October’s Heart2Heart! 🎃🔦🍂

R Cole is a producer and DJ based in Brooklyn. Hailing from the Denver DIY warehouse scene, he has been spinning since the late 00's. He specializes in underground breaks, bass, techno, electro and halftime. You can find his releases on Mechanical, The Healing Company, Alien Body and Small Plates. We are stoked to welcome him back to Denver for this! 🏭🎶

Indigo Violet is a producer and DJ born in Los Angeles and raised in Miami. As such, her style of mixing is greatly influenced by the culture and sound of both South Florida and Southern California. When she was a child she got into electronic music by listening to electro artists such as The Chemical Brothers & Fatboy Slim, as well as freestyle artists like Shannon, Afrika Bambaataa & Soul Sonic Force. Never losing touch with her roots, she has spent years honing her own sound as she taught herself to both produce and DJ music. She believes in the healing power of live music and loves helping to create that for others. 💙🎚🔉
