The Great Gatsby
Adult Mainstage Play

Lincoln Community Playhouse will hold auditions for The Great Gatsby on August 18 and 19. Actors, ages 18 and older, should register and sign up for a date and all actors should attend beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the Studio Theatre.

Roles are available for 5 men and 4-5 women. Auditions will consist of readings from the script which can be accessed above. Scenes do not need to be memorized. No video auditions will be accepted. There may be a short dance audition for those interested in being in the dance ensemble (6-8 people). Please note this is a play version of the show, not a musical. Performance dates are October 9-11 and 16-18.

The Great Gatsby is by F. Scott Fitzgerald, adapted for the stage by Simon Levy. Jay Gatsby, a self-made millionaire, passionately pursues the elusive Daisy Buchanan. Nick Carraway, a young newcomer to Long Island, is drawn into their world of obsession, greed and danger. The breathtaking glamour and decadent excess of the Jazz Age come to the stage in this adaptation approved by the Fitzgerald estate.

The Great Gatsby is directed by Christine Cottam, with choreography by Kayleigh Schadwinkel, scenic design and technical direction by Jeff Maldavs, costume design by Maralee Maldavs, lighting design by Reece McAdams, sound design by Barb Armstead, props by Rhiannon Cottam, stage management by Bailey Leuty.

Something I’ve learned over the years is that in dance education the dance doesn’t have to be perfect to still be wonderful. 🩷🥰

It is the people dancing and learning the steps along with their journey of self-discovery that makes it wonderful! 🕺🏽🥰🩷

Truly so proud of these students from the New Jersey Thespian Festival and hope your summers have been grand! 🏖️🤿🏖️🏰

The dance and theater community lost a beautiful performer and more importantly amazing person this last week, Dan Peters, also known as Dan The Man.

We were so honored to have Dan a part of our POYDS Dance Community as a founding member of the POYDS Dance Club on Doane College Campus during his time in college with our Company Owner, Kayleigh aka KASH. Dan then became an involved patron and POYDS supporter by attending showcase and other company events as it evolved into a Midwestern company after college. Dan was one of our biggest supporters and cheerleaders and his presence and encouragement will be dearly missed. Dan spread love and happiness everywhere he went and his laughter and cheers could always be heard and felt by KASH and the performers on stage!

Dan’s joy, laughter and authenticity were felt by all he was around and we lost a good one way too soon. Dan, thanks for being you and it was such an honor to put on our dancing shoes with you! We say with so much love from your POYDS Dance Family! ❤️

To the Peters Family, we feel this huge loss you are experiencing and we send our deepest sympathies to you as you mourn the passing of Dan. Dan The Man was beloved by all who knew you and we were so grateful to have him a part of our lives! We send our condolences, love and support to the Peters Family as we put Dan into his eternal rest today. ❤️

Was at rehearsal a few weeks ago for choreography at and realized that not one but both my choreographic work was selected as the poster pictures for these upcoming two Main Stage dance shows for the Arvada dance department! Pretty cool and an awesome honor for my first year working at the Arvada Center! Excited to see these pieces on the main stage! ❄️🌸☀️🍂⏰🕺🏽🪩🩰

A mini dream come true to have work on this historic stage! 🥰🎶❤️ It’s been fun growing up in the Midwest Theater and seeing movies and local shows there and dreaming to do work on this stage!

Well…just like the show, with patience, time, hard work and the right circumstances, anything is possible! ✨🎶🥰

What a joy and honor to make this mini dream a reality with this amazing and talented cast, crew and directing team of Gering High School and my alma mater! Stoked for an amazing closing night together! Again, so proud and bravo of brining this beautiful story to life! 🩷🎶🥰🎤✨
