It brings us great sadness to learn of the passing of one of Denvers best and passionate art supporters and local art collectors, Michael Smith. Michael Smith

Michael was an incredible and present supporter of so many art institutions, individuals and all manner of small and large art gallery and collective.

A collector for over 40 years, Mike loved to support artists on the rise, and local artists more than any. 100s of local artists can say Mike was a collector of their work.

His involvement with the arts didn’t stop there, Mike gladly donated his time to countless arts organizations, museums and galleries… gallery sitting, chairing committees, legal advising, fundraising and more.

He was incredibly generous to us at by helping us navigate the legal landscape of leasing our space, watching the gallery, in supporting our charity events, both in donation by purchasing art, but also simply helping setup, wrap art, or clean after. He was a mentor to us and many and most importantly a good friend.

Mike grew up in Craig Colorado, was an accomplished and incredibly respected lawyer of University of Denver and Harvard education, liaison for the fraternal organizations to CU, a devoted person of faith, and so much more.

He will be sorely missed by the art community and those that had the pleasure of being in the presence of his sharp wit and bold character.

Rest in peace!

Our hearts weep, we love you Michael.

First, we want to thank everyone who has made BRDG a vibrant and creative place. Our artists, volunteers, donors and patrons…you make us who we are.

BRDG Project began in late 2020 with the goal—to bring the arts back to Denver neighborhoods that had lost local creative spaces, and to build community through the arts.

Over 3.5 years later we’ve held over 65 art exhibitions supporting 300+ artists and 450+ college and high school students…with countless performances, workshops, art talks and events.

Now we are asking for our community’s help and support to keep BRDG going in our current space at 33rd and Tejon St. in North Denver. We are struggling to survive and are at risk of losing our space due to the economic pressures of the last few years.

Our landlord has generously stepped forward to offer support where possible, but ultimately, we need to shift our model and rent out more studio space for artists to make this facility more financially sustainable.

But we need your help to get there.

Our goal is to raise 10 thousand dollars by Nov 5st for immediate needs, and an additional 30 thousand dollars by Dec 1st, to build-out the space to support this new vision.

A one-time gift of $25, $50 or $100 from everyone who supports our mission or has enjoyed our programming will go a long way. Of course, larger donations are welcomed, if you are in a position to do so.

Go to the link in bio or BRDGPROJECT.org to donate. Or email [email protected] with great ideas of support

We will continue to showcase local artists and present contemporary art exhibitions, but believe our best path forward is to support artists at the front of their creative process.

And if we can’t stay in this space, your generosity will help us regroup and keep BRDG Project going in a new form.

Thank you so much, and please consider sharing this message, or expressing your own appreciation for what BRDG has meant to you. Please help us Raise up BRDG Project. And join and tag our campaign

Thank you.
