I’m so happy to be home! Once the study was all days and done, MY neurologist (not the neurologist running the tests) got back to me with my request for him to review the testing and images from my hospital trip in 2015. He reviewed all the combined testing and images from this week, plus all of my previous results, and was quite certain I actually had a stroke, way back when I was 22 in prison😯
He also suspects I experience bouts of convulsive syncope (fainting). I have an accelerated junctional rhythm and premature ventricular contractions - which are both types of arrhythmias. Basically it tends to be a fast ticker with extra beats from time to time, which can cause anxiety, chest pain, fluttering in your chest, and fainting. I’ve experienced these symptoms all my life... I just thought it was anxiety
I have regular epileptiform activity in both my temporal lobes, so I also have temporal lobe epilepsy. He also suspects I have convergence disorder called PNES, which is a physiological response to an emotional/mental state -as a result of the damage done to the nervous system from trauma. 😮💨
I’m still in shock from hearing that I need to be on baby aspirin to reduce my odds of another stroke. That’s wild to me. I was impatient with the results, and wasn’t a fan of the doctor running the tests. But we have a lot more information to work with now. I’m a little bit intimidated with all this medical stuff, but I’m happy to be getting some answers.
It’s been an stressful and emotional ride 😬
