Ovaettr Art & Zine Distro has produced over 30+ zines & countless art prints adorning walls worldwide. Orion Fern is the two-time award-winning artist of 'THE FOX WHO BECAME A GIRL' celebrated and supported by The Greater Denton Arts Council (2023) and The Comics Advocacy Group (2025.) He started out drawing monsters from video games and cats as a young child, and never stopped drawing since start
ing at the age of 4. Orion holds a Bachelor's of the Fine Arts degree hard-won from The Art Institute of Dallas, TX (2022.) His studies were focused on Media Arts and Animation with a major in Motion Graphic Design and minor in Character Design for Animation. Characters and creatures have always been his most beloved work to draw, especially characters or fursonas representative of people in communities of all kinds from all over the world. College was not easy for Orion, and he survived the experience of extreme burnout from untreated mental illness (bipolar type 1 and ADHD) and the coming out process as a transgender man in the 2010's with tenacity and an undying fire of passion that never went out despite hitting rock bottom. Orion now works as a multidisciplinary artist, following his dreams after receiving the necessary treatment for transgender healthcare and mental health medication. He is a staunch advocate for speaking out about your mental health struggles and finding who you are really meant to be by listening to who you are deep down inside your heart. Orion has done over 100+ custom illustration, design, and animation commissions since establishing as 'Ovaettr Art' in 2017. Now, he also teaches classes, hosts workshops, and has a 'Zine Club' at the Denton Maker Center on Elm St., in Denton, TX! And, as of August 2025, spends part of his week at Thistle Creative Reuse as an Arts & Crafts Retail Specialist. Since May 2025, 'Ovaettr Art & Zine Distro' was the next step for his small business as they now distribute zines made by other creators given away for free at events and donated to Little Free Libraries in the area.
