By definition in blues music, “The Drive” is the forward-moving pulse and momentum created by the rhythm section—the force that gives every shuffle, groove, and backbeat its urgency and life.

As a band, THE DRIVE is more than a collection of musicians. They are a brotherhood—a musical family united by a deep respect for what the blues represents: life, joy, pain and the stories that connect us all.

Their music is rooted in tradition while embracing contemporary influences and fearless improvisation. Every performance is a real journey, bringing audiences together through soulful storytelling, electrifying musicianship and an unmistakable groove that demands to be felt as much as heard.

Taking his sound from Texas stages all the way to the Lucerne Blues Festival in Switzerland — and this September, he's bringing it to Quakertown Park.

We’re welcoming EJ Mathews to 28th Annual Denton Blues Festival | One Day Only — if he isn’t already on your playlist, it’s time to fix that!

Straight out of the backroads of East Texas and Oklahoma, EJ brings what he calls “Backwoods Blues with a Shot of Country”—foot-stompin’ rhythms, swampy grooves, raw acoustic sound and a style all his own.

And the blues world has taken notice:
