I’m getting married exactly a week from today!

I will be out of the studio June 12th-14th and June 17th-24th.

As exciting as that is I know it’s the summer and piercing problems can happen, but I’d never leave my clients to fend for themselves. So below are my piercer recommendations if you do run into problems or have questions. I also ask that you respect their policies and procedures as every piercer has their own boundaries.

First and foremost our piercer Andy ( ) will be in until June 21st at and is a great piercer!

If Andy is unavailable then Aces here in Denton would be my next recommendation.

and from Midgard in Dallas are also amazing and can definitely help with troubleshooting.

You can reach out to me and I will eventually get back to you but it may take 2-3 days or longer so don’t hesitate to reach out to one of the other piercers listed. Especially if it’s a piercing emergency which includes but is not limited to: infection, embedding, major irritation issues, or rejection.

I know everyone hates looking like they have antennas on their face when it comes to new piercings, but especially for lip piercings. I promise there’s a good reason we start with that longer post and that would be because of swelling!

Some people swell very little and others can swell a ton. Each person is different and heals differently. Swelling after a new piercing is also affected by your environment. Some regions clients can heal without much swelling and other regions clients can experience quite a bit of swelling.

All that’s to say we want your piercing to have that room to swell as it can be unpredictable to know how much a person may swell and how long it may last. We’ll give you an estimate time for downsizing your jewelry, but that is just a suggestion not the rule.

The two photos above were taken less than 24 hours apart from each other. They are a great example of why we want to start with a longer post. We’ll be doing our first downsize after only a week because by the fourth day her swelling had already subsided. Remember healing is not one size fits all!

I got to do my first orbital! This was so much fun and I’m so excited to work with this client through the healing process. We did discuss the challenges of healing an orbital and that with the summer it’s going to need to be babied. They have full access to me to watch swelling, irritation, and to schedule check ups so that we keep this piercing on the right track.

Had the absolute pleasure of piercing my coworker !! Normally I wouldn’t pierce both sides at the same time but since we work together I can keep a close eye on them and we can stay on top of the healing together. Super proud of how they turned out and loved the challenge of matching tragus piercings while following what the anatomy allowed for.

Floating navels are starting to become my favorite! I love being creative with the jewelry styling with clients and getting away from traditional navel jewelry. Jewelry is “Jolie” from

Now I know summer is right around the corner and you might be thinking “should I get my navel pierced?” And I’m here to help you take some things into consideration.

1.) you cannot swim in bodies of water. Ocean, bath, swimming pools, etc for a minimum of 6 months. You might have to wait even longer than 6 months because you want your navel fully healed before submerging it.

2.) you may think “I can cover it!” But I do not recommend waterproof coverings or bandages. They hold sweat and when we sweat in the heat that sweat has bacteria and germs (learned that from my pediatrician when I was struggling with acne as a teen). That sweat is also moisture that then can’t escape or dry which can increase your risk of irritation or infection so dry, dry, dry is what I preach to clients.

3.) even if you say you won’t get in the water if you have a beach vacay planned let’s remember everyone’s biggest beach complaint: sand gets everywhere! I don’t want you to have to miss out or struggle with FOMO.

4.) Navels can take up to a year to heal. Yes typically you hear piercings take 6 months but reality is that could be 6 months, 9 months, 1 year and even 2 years for some piercings. Plus every person is different and healing is not one size fits all.

If you’re wanting your navel pierced ask yourself what you’re summer plans are, do you hate FOMO, do you spend your summers as a mermaid, and consider if waiting till the end of swim season will be better for you to heal a navel piercing.
