Heritage Park and Phase II construction is complete!
What a wonderful day celebrating community, progress, and heritage at the D3 Streetscape Phase II Ribbon Cutting & Heritage Park Dedication Ceremony. A special thank-you to our resilient small businesses for their patience and perseverance throughout construction. Please continue to shop local and show them your support! Prior to the dedication a private ceremony was held that honored the firefighters who lost their lives in the park during the Honor the Fallen Ceremony, remembering their bravery and sacrifice. The day wrapped up with a great concert by the Jared Mitchell Band, supported by Greg Guymon and Sawyer Guymon! Thank you to everyone who joined us and made this celebration memorable.

Saturday, October 10th was a memorable day of honoring service, celebrating history, and recognizing the lasting legacy of leadership and dedication in our community.

The day began with the Eisenhower Brick Dedication at the Eisenhower Monument, honoring the brave veterans and active-duty service members who have served and continue to serve our nation. The ceremony featured Maj. Gen. Eldon Joersz, USAF (Ret.), reminding us of the importance of recognizing those who have answered the call to serve.

We then gathered at the Eisenhower Birthplace to celebrate President Dwight D. Eisenhower’s 136th birthday, reflecting on the life, leadership, and enduring legacy of one of our nation’s most distinguished presidents. It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate his remarkable contributions to our country and remember the history rooted right here in our community.

The day concluded with the Lt. Col. Bredette “BC” Thomas, USAF (Ret.), Mural Dedication, honoring a legacy of service and celebrating the power of art to preserve the stories of those who have made a lasting impact.

From honoring our military heroes to celebrating presidential history and recognizing extraordinary individuals, October 10th was a powerful reminder of the people, service, and stories that shape our nation and community.

A heartfelt thank-you to everyone who attended, participated, and helped make these meaningful events possible. Together, we continue to honor our past, celebrate our present, and preserve our legacy for future generations.

What an incredible story to have the opportunity to paint.

This mural honors Denison native Lt. Col. B.C. Thomas and an extraordinary career that took him from his hometown in Texas to the edge of space! 🚀 B.C. logged more than 1,200 hours flying the legendary SR-71 Blackbird and also flew the U-2 and RB-57F among others.

🌳 The mural also reaches back into his family’s roots in Denison, featuring his great-grandfather B.C. Murray and great-grand-uncle L.S. Owings, connecting generations of local history with B.C.’s own remarkable story.

I had five days to bring this wall to life, and getting to paint something this personal, with B.C. himself involved in making sure the details were right, made this one especially memorable.

The mural will be officially dedicated on October 10th, with B.C. there to see the finished piece in person.
