It’s Take a Peek Tuesday! The horses I painted for the Kentucky Derby commissions were so fun that I decided to try another piece with horses. I started this one almost year ago before setting it aside to work on a different commissioned piece. So, I am giving it time now. It’s a work in progress that is getting close. I should finish soon. It’s Take a Peek Tuesday! I am loving these Extraordinary Poppies Painted in Ordinary Time. (See my last post for more info on the title.)

I may paint the town with poppies! 🥰 Each one reminds me of how extraordinary YOU are -God’s creations. These are available, of course, but I am also looking to paint a really large and long version of these poppies. Who can I paint a commissioned piece for? 🌸🌺🌸🌺🌸🌺🌸🌺

It’s Take a Peek Tuesday! Extraordinary Poppies Painted in Ordinary Time 1 & 2

The titles for these paintings were inspired by my pastor, Rev. Justin Miller, when I heard his sermon on ordinary time that is anything but ordinary. That time on the Christian calendar is between Eastertide and Advent. I started these paintings during “ordinary time”.

Pastor Miller spoke about achievements of ordinary people who let the Holy Spirit work through them to achieve extraordinary results. It’s a play on words that resonated with me as I thought about the flames of the Holy Spirit moving among the disciples of Jesus Christ on Pentecost.

Like flames, the light coming through these petals changed my poppies from ordinary to sort of funky and definitely extraordinary poppies! Can we each do extraordinary things when we let His light shine through us? Of course. ❤️

More from UMC.org online on Ordinary time: It begins the day after Pentecost and continues to Advent. The purpose of this season is to support new disciples and the whole congregation in living out the gifts and callings discerned during the Easter Season and commissioned on the Day of Pentecost.

Every year, Christians experience the contrast between the central seasons of Christmas and Easter, where we see God in the events around the coming of Christ, and the in-between times, where we see, speak about and join God’s ongoing work in the world.

It’s take a peek Tuesday! Here you have it. #118 Window into Florence. This commissioned painting will go into a private collection as soon as it dries. 💕It has been so much fun to immerse myself in Florence, Italy. The Duomo was completed in 1436. I love this view that includes old and new. It’s spring time and visually says, “ I am there.” The lives that have been touched by this magnificent building and the City….

It’s Take a Peek Tuesday! Work in Progress—For the last couple of months, I have been surrounded by the beauty of The Duomo (completed 1436) in Florence, Italy. This is a commissioned piece for my patrons’ private collection. Credit for the patience to ENJOY attention to detail required for this goes to God Almighty. I am thankful to be blessed with the ability to paint. 🙏🏻💕

The Grayson College Foundation hosted another fun Designer Bag Bingo event. There were nearly 600 women laughing and talking as they joyfully worked their daubers! Purses and raffle prizes were on the block to raise money for scholarships. Congratulations to Ann M. on winning my Derby Girls print. Thanks, DBB committee for making it happen!
