Hi Peg, Mary and I poured our hearts and souls into the arts center for 14 years. And yet, nothing we did was ever good enough or the way John and his old guard Deltona friends wanted us to do it.
When John ran the building, he did not have to produce $1000 per month to pay the mortgage because he owned the building. The center had less than five visitors per month to view the history.
When I took over, I had to produce funds for the mortgage, utilities, insurance and state compliance fees.
In a nut shell, we tried everything to produce funds from grants to fundraisers and seeking renters to help share the cost. We had various renters who could not pay their rent. The building is too small with not enough parking.
Despite much criticism, I moved in the recording studio which brought a lot more people/visitors into the center. Rumors were spread that we were not treating the history properly. I spent 6 months alone converting the back lanai into a history museum. And yet, despite sending them classy beautiful invitations, none of our accusers showed up for our grand opening of the museum.
Mary and I have spent over $20,000 of our own money over the years trying to keep the arts center open.
My work in national politics kept Mary and I on the road out of state for almost a year. Upon our return, the center had fallen apart in terms of the bills being paid. John foreclosed.
The state of Florida website will confirm that DAHC, Inc is an active 501c3. The history is in climate controlled storage until we secure a new location. Thanks for your support.
God bless, Lloyd
