Another one bites the dust… another one down, and another one down and another bites the dust.
Well, folks, the life of a 70-year-old drive-in theater has taken another windy hit, specifically we lost a U; lucky we have a spare one of those U's.
It's only $4-5,000 to replace, custom-made vacuum-formed letters with custom-made metal hooks. Maybe we could increase our ticket price to $12/adult and $8/kids? Or perhaps charge $15 for our Smash Burger and $8 popcorn? Oh wait, no - outside food is strictly prohibited, and if caught with it, you have to throw it away, including even a bottle of water. (FYI, these are common practices other drive-ins and independent theaters use to survive!!)
No, at the Tru Vu Drive-In, we make smart decisions to keep it open, such as not taking out bank loans or wasting money on items that don't generate revenue. We employ locals, reduce costs, and keep the Tru Vu open for years to come… Hey, did you know that 80% of drive-ins sold today become RV/Boat storage or subdivisions? Which would you prefer?
Guess what? You can thank an outsider who moved to Delta for keeping the Tru Vu open because we want to live in Delta as our small hometown, and yes, we want a cleaner and better version of Delta. Did you know we actually know our neighbors, get involved in community events, and donate time and money to both non-profits and local businesses?
Now, you're welcome to come to the Tru Vu; we actually care about and support Delta, but if you don't, that's okay too… We live in America, and well, that's your choice, just as ours is to not update the marquee because you're reading this here, where the movies are also posted, along with being posted on X, Instagram, Pinterest, TikTok, Google, YouTube, and TruVuDriveIn.com, which is a heck of a lot less than $4-5,000.
Now, to all complainers, not that it's your business, but know that we're working on grants to completely redo the ticket booth, marquee, and all - this is about a $150,000 price tag.
Before posting a negative comment, consider this: RV/Boat storage has zero local employees and no regular social postings. Would you prefer a local drive-in that's over 70 years old, historical registered, and still making memories for our amazing community, or would you prefer RV/Boat storage? SMART SUGGESTIONS AND SOLUTIONS ARE LISTENED TO.
Make it a lovely day, smile and be nice!
