Seeing this photograph of Helmut Newton’s nudes reminded me of his enduring influence on my large figures, approached through my own female gaze.

For me, painting begins with the physicality of the body—breathing life into form, then breaking it down through primal, sweeping gestures of paint and movement. Body, mind and spirit emerge through that process. These larger-than-life deities carry a physical weight, even as their forms dissolve.

New work, beautifully framed by James.

Several months ago, we moved out of our busy Pineapple Grove art studio. Between the yoga crowd, Instagram influencers and the daily fight for parking, we’d had enough… 😂

We found a lovely new art studio space where we see clients by appointment, and I’ve been enjoying uninterrupted time in the studio, working on a new collection of oil florals.

Amanda James Gallery is still our retail space, where you can stop in, shop, and see what’s new!

It feels so good to get lost in painting again.

Grateful, happy, and very much in love with painting….

A painting I made 17 years ago.

It was about women. About how we are looked at, judged, controlled, diminished, sexualized, and treated.

Seventeen years later, I look at this painting and realize I could have painted it today.

Different year. Same anger. Same fight.

The song remains the same….

Loving our trip to Italy. 🇮🇹❤️

We started in Venice, then Bari, Monopoli and now Matera. Each and every place we’ve been has been absolutely magnificent!

I will say, traveling has been rather rigorous 😂 and there have definitely been moments when I’ve felt like I was on The Amazing Race.

I’m completely blown away by the landscape, the architecture, the art and the couture here. So much beauty everywhere you look. Feeling very grateful for all of it.

And yes… I might need a vacation after the vacation. 😎

Ending our trip in Rome. Stay tuned! 🇮🇹❤️
