Okay... hear me out.
Are gaming consoles actually becoming harder to justify?

Because PCs can play an enormous library...
Xbox is bringing more of its ecosystem to PC...
PlayStation is putting more of its games on PC...
And Nintendo is obviously doing its own thing.

So if you're already spending serious money on gaming...
Why lock yourself into one box?
Now, I get it.
Consoles are simple.
You plug them in...
Grab a controller...
And you're playing.
No building a PC.
No messing with settings.
No wondering if your hardware can run the game.
And THAT convenience is still a huge deal.

But the gap between consoles and PC is getting really interesting.

Maybe the question isn't...
"Which console should I buy?"

Maybe it's...
"Do I even need a console anymore?"

Because depending on how the next generation plays out...
That could become one of the biggest questions in gaming.

Saints Row used to know exactly what kind of game it wanted to be.

The original had that gritty street-level feeling, and then Saints Row 2 found an incredible balance between a serious crime story and the ridiculous chaos the series became known for.

Then Saints Row: The Third pushed everything even further with outrageous weapons, insane missions, and completely over-the-top characters, but somehow it still felt like Saints Row.

As the franchise continued, though, it started moving further away from what originally made it special.

There is nothing wrong with a series evolving, but when you change so much that the personality people originally connected with starts disappearing, you have to wonder what made the franchise special in the first place.

Saints Row didn't need to become something completely different. It needed to build on the foundation that made Saints Row 2 so memorable.

Honestly, Saints Row 2 might have been the perfect blueprint for where the franchise should have gone.

What other gaming franchise do you think completely lost its identity?

Sony may have accidentally handed Xbox one of the biggest advantages of the next generation.

Because while PlayStation is moving further toward an all-digital future...

Reports surrounding Microsoft's next Xbox, Project Helix, are pointing in the COMPLETE opposite direction.

The big rumor?

Full backwards compatibility...

Potentially all the way back to the ORIGINAL Xbox.

Think about that for a second.

Imagine buying the next Xbox...

And being able to play games from multiple generations of Xbox history on the same machine.

Your old Xbox games...

Xbox 360...

Xbox One...

Xbox Series...

And potentially even more.

Meanwhile, if physical media continues disappearing from PlayStation...

That's a VERY different philosophy.

One company is moving toward a future-focused digital ecosystem...

The other could be turning its next console into a giant time machine for your gaming library.

Now obviously...

Project Helix isn't here yet...

And these backwards compatibility reports still need to be taken with caution.

But if Microsoft actually pulls this off?

Sony might have just given Xbox a HUGE opportunity.

And suddenly...

The next console war gets VERY interesting.

Nintendo fans waited over a DECADE for another Star Fox...

And when we finally got one...

It turned out to be a remake of the N64 classic. 😭

Now don't get me wrong...

Star Fox 64 is legendary.

But after waiting all these years...

People were expecting something NEW.

A completely new adventure...

New levels...

New mechanics...

A real next-generation Star Fox experience.

And then there's the character designs...

Because Nintendo...

WHAT HAPPENED HERE?! 😂

Some of these designs look so different that I had to double-check what I was looking at.

After more than a decade of waiting...

Was this really what Star Fox fans were hoping for?

Okay, PlayStation fans...

I genuinely want someone to explain this one to me.
Why buy a PlayStation in 2026...
When a PC can basically do everything a console can...
AND then some?

You get access to a massive library...
PC exclusives...
Mods...
Game Pass...
Free multiplayer on a lot of games...

And you can upgrade your hardware instead of replacing the entire system every generation.

And here's the part that really gets me...

Sony is already bringing more of its biggest games to PC.
So if the games aren't staying locked to PlayStation forever...
What exactly is the reason to buy the box?

Now obviously...
Consoles are cheaper...
They're easier...
You plug them in and play.
And there's something about sitting on the couch with a controller that a PC can't completely replace.

But if you're spending serious money on gaming...
Is a PlayStation actually the better investment anymore?
Or are we just buying consoles because that's what we've always done?

This game doesn’t “get hard.”
It IS hard. From the title screen. From the first enemy. From the FIRST BREATH you take.

Ghost of Yotei plays like it was designed by someone who hates happiness.
You don’t fight bosses—you survive emotional trauma with legs.

Every swing feels like the game whispering “you thought you were good at games?”
And the fall damage? Actually a war crime.

If you beat this without rage-quitting, punching air, or questioning your entire skill tree in life… congratulations, you’re built different.

I swear gamers don't even form their own opinions anymore...

They watch an influencer they like say something...

And five minutes later...

THAT'S THEIR OPINION TOO. 😭

A game gets called a masterpiece?

Suddenly everybody's calling it a masterpiece.

An influencer says a game is overrated?

Now the entire internet hates it.

And the craziest part...

Some people haven't even PLAYED the game they're arguing about.

They're just repeating what somebody else told them to think.

Gaming is supposed to be about YOUR experience.

Maybe you love a game everyone else hates.

Maybe you can't stand a game everyone calls perfect.

And that's completely fine.

You don't need your favorite creator...

Or the gaming community...

To validate your opinion.

Play it.

Experience it.

Then decide for yourself.

Because if your entire gaming opinion can change because one influencer said three sentences...

Nintendo didn't just lose a deal, they foolishly birthed their greatest rival. By betraying Sony, Nintendo handed them the blueprint to dominate the gaming world with over 100 million consoles sold.

Here is how corporate greed and a public humiliation backfired in the most embarrassing way possible:

The Secret Alliance: Back in 1990, Sony and Nintendo quietly joined forces to build a game-changing CD-ROM add-on for the Super Nintendo.

Sony’s Ultimate Masterplan: Sony wasn't just building an attachment; they envisioned a hybrid powerhouse capable of playing both traditional cartridges and next-gen optical discs.

The Cold-Blooded Snake Move: At the 1991 Chicago CES trade show, Nintendo blindsided Sony on live television, stabbing them in the back by publicly ditching the deal to partner with Philips instead.

Fueled by pure revenge: Devastated by the humiliation, visionary Sony engineer Ken Kutaragi pitched a radical move: stop playing second fiddle and build an independent console to destroy Nintendo.

The Bet That Changed Everything: In 1992, Sony CEO Norio Ohga gave Kutaragi the green light to focus on groundbreaking, mind-bending 3D graphics.

Decimating the Competition: The original PlayStation hit Japan on December 3, 1994, for 39,800 yen. By ditching outdated, overpriced cartridges for dirt-cheap CDs, Sony made games cheaper and faster to produce than Nintendo ever could.

An Instant Massacre: The PlayStation sold 100,000 units on Day 1 and went on to become the first home console in history to breach 100 million units.
