Oh my! What a fun evening the Central Ohio Gourd Patch had making hats and mask. We even had a few members who decided a little bit of royalty had to be explored. Thirteen brace folks joined us at the Worthington Park Library to paint, create and start a project with more leeway to embellish and tweak. I sure hope we see the amazing gourd projects at the Ohio Gourd Show this coming October in Delaware Ohio.

Yesterday’s Southern Gourd Patch was fun. Vikkie and I started out with a visit to Hopewell Culture Center and then coffee and donuts at the famous Crispie Crème. Then to the library where a small group sat around experimenting with dyes to color the gourds.

Don’t forget the hat/mask workshop coming up this coming Monday in Chillicothe Ohio at the Main Library. Free workshop and even snacks. 4-6pm
By why not make it a day and come early to visit Chillicothe? Just north on route 104, you can stop and visit Hopewell Culture National Historic Park which has a large cluster of Adena Mounds. Check out the National Park Visitor Center for the history behind the mounds and check out the gift shop. Walk through the 22 ceremonial mounds and take a small hike and view the Scioto River flowing nearby
nearby is the Great Seal State Park which is on the State Flag of Ohio.
Chillicothe is also home to Crispie Crème Donuts which is a local hangout and home to the famous Mountain Top Donut. Sit at the u-shaped counter and have a donut and coffee or hot chocolate and listen to the local gossip of the day.
Check out the shops and great restaurants from home food diner to barbecue on Canal. There also is man amazing quilt shop Old Town Fabric Shop.
Fun fact about Chillicothe:
First capitol from 1892-1810 and 1812-1816.
