JOL with Korey Black-Musician and friends
Friday, 6/5/26
151 W Lincoln Ave. Delaware, OH 43015
7-8:15 PM - 1 set
Jazz On Lincoln began when Korey threw a number of pandemic era concerts with gigging musician friends from our lawn in 2020. However, when spring of 2021 rolled around and he said “listen Abby, I really think we could do a whole summer of different bands,” I’ll admit I did initially think he was off his rocker. But I’ve also been with him long enough to admire his creative spirit, support his endeavors, and know that both of our passion for music can sometimes lead to incredibly neat things.
How lucky I feel that he felt confident enough in our partnership that he could suggest we dive into this. Six summers in he manages sound and I manage marketing and JOL community and bands you really bring the rest together!
There is not a better band leader to kick things off at our new location just 2 blocks down W Lincoln. He’s bringing in a bunch of wonderful Columbus jazz musicians and planning a jam packed night that you won’t want to miss!
Now to humble brag about Korey. He is a proud father and husband. He just wrapped up his tenth year of teaching and currently serves as the director of bands at Worthingway Middle School in Worthington, OH.
In addition to teaching music in the public school setting, Korey maintains a private studio of musicians and plays saxophone in the Columbus Jazz scene performing with groups such as The Korey Black Quartet, The Brewtet, as well as subbing with groups such as Largemouth Brass Band and The Rick Brunetto Big Band.
