Blooming with kindness 💐

Our kids created handmade flower bouquets and delivered them to their teachers, their families, and residents at our local rehabilitation and senior care center -- spreading joy across generations.

Just one more way HVCC is growing not just great kids, but thoughtful, connected community members. 🌸

No school means no HVCC today!

Here's to hoping for some great snow!

Dear Tigers, Due to forecasted heavy snows and high winds lasting through the afternoon, The Upper Rio Grande School District will be closed on February 18, 2026. We hope this prevents students and staff from traveling to and from school in adverse weather conditions. School is scheduled to resume tomorrow at normal times. Please watch for email and text updates. Thank you,

Shoot hoops. Make art. Play smart. Have fun. This is club time at HVCC 🙌

Last Fabulous Friday we played a bunch of games, and then took a field trip to the local bowling alley. We're chasing down that illusive 300 again this Friday, 1/23.

Just one more week until winter break! This week will be a little bit different from our normal schedule - take a look so you have all the right information!

Monday and Tuesday will be our normal schedule of tasty dinner, festive clubs, and braintime.

Thursday is our annual holiday shopping trip! This field trip is invite only for those who have had consistent attendance this year at HVCC. We sent out invitations via snail mail - please RSVP so we have an accurate headcount for transportation and dinner. Pickup is at 8:30pm. Let us know if you have any questions!

Friday there is NO HVCC. We hope everyone has a splendid break filled with joy and warmth.

And then programming resumes January 13th. We look forward to seeing you in the new year!

MAKING A DIFFERENCE

HVCC was founded in 2002 and has grown significantly throughout the years. During the 2017-2018 school year, 239 students were registered in our program. This is equivalent to 86% of the student body in our local school!

Every year, our program provides 840 hours of programming and 9800 meals to students in our community! We provide programs to the youth and community such as Community Nights, Fabulous Fridays, trips in the summer, incentive programs for our youth, Teen Art Auction, and Outreach Education.

HVCC has no plans to stop where they are. The next goal for the organization is to become a 21st Century Community Learning Center. More outreach educators, more hands-on learning, activities that align with state standards: an overall higher quality of learning so that each minute they spend in the program makes an even greater impact.

HVCC estimates it costs $21.48 each time a student attends HVCC. This number was its highest in 2010 and has varied slightly over the years. This tells us that we are continually doing more for the dollars we receive.
